Flag Day

Flag Day is celebrated in the United States on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of United States, which was approved by Congress making the "stars and stripes" a national symbol for the United States of America. Flag day is not an official holiday. On june 14, 1937, Pennsylvania became the first state to establish the June 14 Flag Day as legal holiday and it started in the town of Rennerdale.

President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed June 14, 1916, to be a national celebration of the American flag, and the 1949 Congress declared June 14 to be national Flag Day every year.



In the Philippines, Philippine National Flag Day is celebrated on May 28 which commemorates the date when the Philippine flag was first opened and spread out after the Philippine Revolutionary Army defeated the Spanish forces in the Battle of Alapan in 1898.
