Maytag Dishwasher Recall 2010: Maytag has issued a Maytag dishwasher recall for 1.7 million machines. There have been 12 reports of fires from the defect that caused this recall. According to statement made by an agency, the dishwashers have a faulty heating element that can short-circuit and burn. Consumers should stop using the dishwashers immediately and disconnect the power source by pulling the fuse or flipping a circuit-breaker, the agency said.
The recall includes select Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air, Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa and Crosley brands manufactured by Maytag.
Consumers can set up a cost free in-home repair or find a rebate of $150 or $250 toward a purchase of certain new Maytag dishwashers. The quantity of the rebate depends on the sort of example to be purchased.
