17 year old girl named Farzana had been severely ill for almost a year in Rahim Yar Khan. This girl had a rare genetic condition & she was suffering from hormonal imbalance as she had hermaphrodite genes. Although hermaphrodite cases are mostly identified at birth, but there are exceptions where one gets to know about the problem at the onset of puberty.
Since Farzana had hermaphrodite genes, her body was beginning to shut down. X-ray reports & ultrasound report showed that she had testosterone at a very high level & the surgery was inevitable otherwise Farzana could have died.
Farzana had this surgery on Sunday night & on Monday, her parents changed her name to Faizan.
“I am just happy to be alive…I have been sick for a very long time and now that I am healthy I am thankful. I don’t care about whether I am a boy or a girl as long as I am alive,” Faizan said.
I like Faizan’s approach towards life & I’m glad he’s alive. Earlier on, he used to work in a beauty parlour, but now he will help out his father.
