The 86th Miss America pageant was held January 15, 2011 in Las Vegas and it was hosted by Brooke Burke and Chris Harrison.Miss America 2011 with 53 contestants and Miss Nebraska Teresa Scanlan was crowned Miss America 2011 Saturday night in Las Vegas. She won $ 50,000 and a 1-year scholarship to the institution of her choice and will enjoy the title of Miss America for one year.
Teresa Scanlan, a fresh graduate of Scottsbluff High School whose talent is playing the piano. Her ambition is to attend law school and become a judge and soon a politician.
Teresa Scanlan impressed the judges with a black and white evening dress and by her response on the final question. She was asked about the leaking of confidential government information by website WikiLeaks and whether US security or the people’s right to know sensitive information was more important.
She replied that security comes first before the right of the people to learn about classified information.
