Getting off my lazy butt to work out

Hello people of the world. Hi. Guten Tag. Bonjour. Okay, you get the picture.

I’m Annie, and I’m a workout junkie. But let me say this right here, right now. I hate to workout. There, I said it. Like the rest of society, I have a billion things to do in life and I hate that I have to give an hour to two hours each day to working out.

“Then why do you workout if you hate it?” Trust me, I’m psychic, and that is exactly the question that is running through your head right now (Fine, I’m not psychic but I’m pretty sure that’s the question you’re wondering). I got addicted to working out. I believe you call this high “endorphin.” People say this is “the natural high” since your own body produces this chemical after an intense workout. Now, I’m not a science/biology major so I only know the basic knowledge, in other words, I will not understand if you come up to me and talk about potassium and carbon dioxide.

Anyway, back in high school I used to work for McDonalds (which lasted for 4 months and I left for a better job). When you work for McDonalds, you get discount on the food, and hey, who doesn’t like a discount? So I ate (come on, extra Mac sauce on a Big Mac, yummy!) and I ate…and I got fat. Okay, so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been, but I was fairly big for my standards and I noticed I was getting sick more often. I started to worry about my health and I picked up workout DVDS.

Yes, workout DVDs. I thought to myself, “Heck, like this is going to work.” 2 months later, my waist went down two inches and my massive thighs got smaller. The DVDs? It’s called “Turbo Jam.” I did Turbo Jam for 2 years straight and noticed that body adapted to the workouts. I then move on to do Turbo Fire and P90X (Story about these two in later post). Ever since then, I’m rarely sick and I have so much energy.

Time and time again, it is proven that physical exercise improves the body and mind. That my friends, is just one half of being healthy. The other half? Nutrition. You need to have both in order to maximize the benefits of a healthy body.

Obesity in America is one of the biggest problems. We need to get off our lazy butts and do something about it. This blog is just for me to motivate people, share my experiences with the world in regards to health/fitness and just to plainly embarrass myself.  =)
