I am attempting to start running regularly for the first time in my life. I was always apprehensive about this because of some creaky knees and minor pain that I experience when doing high impact cardio/dance. But now that my boyfriend (read: bone and joint guru) has assured me that the more I use my leg muscles, the less knee pain/crackling I’ll endure, I’m all for giving it a shot.
I finally bought some new shoes, and have tried to run 3-4x a week, but am finding it difficult to fit it into my regular routine since I’m already taking bootcamp 3 nights a week. I’ve managed to squeeze in some runs on my lunch break now and then, but then I either have to run home and shower and get back to work, or just be gross and sweaty the rest of the day - which is disgusting.
Also, I feel like I should be getting better at this after a couple weeks. I started barely being able to run a mile on the treadmill - which was shocking, considering I thought I was fairly in shape. Now I can run at least 2 miles and still be comfortable. But then, I come home and take a jog around the neighborhood, and am dying by the time I get to one mile. ONE MILE!? Come on. Pathetic.
I need some guidance/education/inspiration. What are some good resources out there? Anyone have any advice?
