We’ve all heard about the philanthropic activities of companies since ever, but it has been rarely seen that a CSR initiative by a company can really impact someone’s life. Even we as people are so careless at times that we deliberately ignore the problems of people around us only to make sure that we have our own personal wishes and desires fulfilled. We’re all so heartless I must say.
When it comes to advertising, we often see many small battles being fought by the telecom companies in Pakistan. But when it comes to fighting the BIG war and helping the community in real life, I believe that the step that Mobilink has taken to help the IDPs in Pakistan is a killer. Mobilink being the market leader in the telecom sector has actually shown that it also takes care of the society it operates it and that is a great sign and an invitation to all the other companies to come and join hands for a cause.
Mobilink’s support for this cause is worth up to Rs 84 million, and it has the largest relief commitment for the IDPs from the private sector of Pakistan. Through this support, Mobilink is aiming to reshape lives by supporting about 1,000 families for 3 months. The support is in the form of tents, water and sanitation, basic health, education, kitchen and connectivity with Mobilink PCO’s available on the site. Apart from this, other basic things like hygiene kit, towels, laundry soaps, tooth paste, tooth brushes, combs and mosquito nets are also being provided. Mobilink has also set up provisions of primary and secondary schools for both, boys and girls to ensure continuation of education.
It is a great act of social responsibility by Mobilink and I would really love to see other companies following their footsteps by actively engaging in the relief and rehabilitation of the people in trapped in problems.
