Are we supporting the right people?

I often get sms on Dr. Aafia Siddique that we must support her at all cost. No one knows whether she is guilty or innocent, but nevertheless we must support her as she is a Muslim. Is this a good enough reason to support someone? And how do we know that are we supporting the right people?

There are 2, 3 versions circulating around & I don’t know which one to believe & which one to discard. It may not sound very nice, but I’m afraid almost everyone seems to be lying & that includes not just her family, her ex-husband, but also the media. The media wants to sell its stories & here is a woman/suspect who is wronged, which gives them the opportunity to sensationalize. And people sympathize when you tell them a sensational story.

1st thing 1st - such people ought to be tried in a court of law rather than brutally abused by the agencies. If they turn out to be genuine terrorists, then they must be awarded death penalty in a humane way. However, things have been bad ever since September 11th. The matter was handed over to the CIA rather than the FBI. FBI would have handled the situation differently. Anyway, what would you do to the terrorists who are killing innocent people in our country? How would you treat them, if you get the chance to act as God for a while? These are pertinent questions & they need to be answered honestly.

It has been alleged that the Pakistani government handed over this woman to America. If this part is true, then why was she framed in the 1st place? Another version says that she was in Afghanistan at the time when she was arrested & she also assaulted a soldier. It’s hard to believe that she injured someone, but she has been charged with it. And what the hell was she doing in Afghanistan? Oh yeah she has a dual nationality. I know that but I think any sane person who has opportunities would stay away from Afghanistan.

In one of the messages forwarded, it was written that Dr. Aafia is far more educated than the Americans. My point is simple…what was a far more educated person doing in Afghanistan? And if she was not in Afghanistan, then she was in Pakistan where she was arrested. The government may not care, but the government is not stupid. It wouldn’t hand over a person just like that. There must be something nasty.

Her ex-husband said that she was an extremist jahidi. I wonder how does he describe myself, cause he too seems to be a fanatic or a fundamentalist. 2 of her children have been seen in Karachi, but it is also said that the family has been lying to gain sympathy. What the hell is this? And what is the real story?

They say nothing is bigger than the truth. But how do we find out truth when it’s guarded by lies?

PS This is just an opinion. No need to bother my baby sister. Moreover, the only person who can convince me is myself, so no need to bother at all.
