Who gives them the right to play God?

2 bandits were beaten to death on Feb 16th by an angry mob in Karachi. Both of them died due to multiple head injuries, according to the medico-legal officer. Moreover, they were unconscious when they were burnt alive. Most of the people in the area were spectators, but few tried to put out the fire. These bandits were on the run after killing a young man in that area (Kharadar).

This is not the 1st time that people have taken law in their hand. 2 such incidents happened earlier on in which people had lynched the bandits & then burnt them alive. I have one question: Who gives them the right to play God? Can’t criminals be handed over to the police? Laws have been created for a reason. It’s another thing whether justice is granted or not. But I don’t think any law-abiding citizen would do this to another being (be it human or animal).

There is no justification for a wrong deed. Moreover, these people seem to have no empathy whatsoever. Or do they take out their frustration when they get a chance like this? A person has to be a total deranged to burn someone alive & in these cases, we have mobs that have no problem in taking away someone’s life by 1st inflicting head injuries & then burning them alive.

Whatever the reason is behind this brutality…no one has the right to torture & kill another person. We will be answerable to God some day but before that, aren’t we answerable to ourselves? Conscience can prick, if it’s not dead, but in these cases, I guess conscience doesn’t exist at all.
