About my mother, I must say that even at this age, she looks really fabulous. But after the death of Papa, she just stopped taking care of herself. Z & I often ask her to go for beauty treatment, but somehow she doesn’t show any interest. In spite of that she looks ab fab even today. I think she is one brave woman. She has come a long way. In fact, she looks more fresh than Tariq & Munu.
I often tease her that after 223/A (our old house), she madly loves Shama aunty (one of my khalas). However, I don’t know as to who is her favourite kid though. Sometimes I have a feeling it’s either Babar or me. But Ammi has always been tough on Tariq, Z & me.
In the morning, I was saying to my mother that whenever I argue with her, she just answers back like Shabana Azmi in Tehzeeb. She has a reply for everything, but nevertheless, we go on wrangling. I think we argue almost every day.
There’s one thing I really don’t like about Ammi & that’s her love for ugly looking kids. She just adores kids & it doesn’t matter how they look. And yeah I find that quite annoying. Then she explains to me that in the eye of a mother, that ugly child must be so beautiful & that’s why people worry about evil eye.
By the way, when I was almost 4 year old, I got measles & I was not even totally alright when I went with her to the market cause I didn’t want to stay back at home & I started yelling like one annoying brat for ice cream…she tried to convince me that it wasn’t a good idea, but I was so adamant that she gave up & got one for me & within 2 days I recovered from my illness. So this is my mom.
Anyhow, I hope she has a long life & she stays happy! Well I actually gave her one good news yesterday, & that is my present :P I hope Z gets hold of a really yummy cake.
And yeah Happy Mother’s Day Ammi! :D You know I won’t call you the best mom, as you definitely happen to be unique, cause you are my mom.
