Google doodle celebrates every occasion by changing their homepage logo. Changing logos on the home page is common procedure or routine by Google and is referred to as Google Doodle.

This time the occasion of Holography inventor Dennis Gabor 110th anniversary. Google logo is dedicated to the anniversary of Dennis Gabor.

Dennis Gabor was born on June 5, 1900 in Budapest, Hungary. After serving in World War I, he studied in Hungary. After studying he became a British citizen in 1946, and invented holography in 1947 while working at British Thomson-Houston. His contribution as an inventor made him very famous that the Hungarian Academy of Sciences gives awards on Gabor’s name to young scientists. He received the first Nobel Prize for the invention of holography in 1971.


Holography is a capacity that allows the light scattered from an object to be recorded and later reproduced. Holography is also used in 3D and science fiction movies where an object appears to be present when actually, it’s not. The light is the key - without the light you cannot see the image.
