Happy Independence Day!

Pakistan is now 63 years old, but when it comes to any country, it’s still too young even in its 60s. But nevertheless Pakistan has come a long way. Selfish politicians & government have done everything to destroy this country, but it’s still on the map & it’s nothing short of a miracle. Lately, we have faced huge crisis. Innumerable people are dead & are still dying.

Yesterday I saw a pic in which flood victims were trying to get food & you can imagine how painful it must have been. We all have seen such horrifying pics. The other day I saw another one in which cows & buffalos were almost drowned in water, but the farmer was trying to get them out of the mess.

Few years ago when I read Down & Out in Paris & London, I kept thinking as to how it feels to have morsel after having nothing for 5 days. It was a very bad feeling, because every day someone must be begging or dying for a morsel. You know we don’t have to experience everything bad to decipher its badness. It’s another thing that people are quite sensitive about themselves (which is natural) & they become something else when somebody else is suffering. And people suffer in different ways. This is one example that is quite obvious whereas many other instances won’t even be regarded as misery of any kind, cause it didn’t touch your life.

People went out of their way when that damn earthquake hit the country. I even heard that they came out just how they helped others in the war. It’s pretty weird that people wait for calamities to hit the country in order to help others. Anyhow, as of now, people are not in the mood to donate for a variety of reasons! We have been reading lots of stuff in which the government has been rightly abused, but what about the people? Isn’t it our duty to help out our fellow citizens? Fine. We don’t trust the government anymore. But individually people are coming out.

Anyhow, Happy Birthday Pakistan! I wish this country had better people.
