This is the way the American Heritage dictionary describes a recession : re·ces·sion . The act of withdrawing or going back.. An extended decline in general business activity, usually 3 consecutive quarters of falling real gross national product. This is a time when consumers feel that they have to hold onto what they have in their pockets, and bank books, because they’re not sure of what will happen tomorrow. Lots of people tend to be less generous around this time, but there is an advantage to a recession, at least for some people who are willing to take the chance.Advantage of a recession
In time of a recession, the price of houses generally take a nose dive; they go down. Most people lose their jobs around this time, and are not able to pay for their houses; hence the banks in most cases foreclose on them. In situations like these, the banks are willing to sell so that they can at least make back the money they borrowed in the first place. If a person has money and is brave enough, they can purchase these houses. Later on they can sell them when the economy turns around, and make a huge profit. But one has to have strong faith in the government of the day when taking such a chance.
This can also work for other things that people want to get rid of because they can no longer afford to keep them. These people are willing to sell them cheap so that they can get rid of them as soon as possible. Some of them who have jobs do not know how long they will have their jobs for, and so they’re scaling down on their life styles so that they can save. A recession can show the strength of a person; when a person is willing to weather the storm of the recession and sees better times ahead, that person proves how optimistic and strong he or she is, and optimism is one of the traits that is needed in this time.
A recession can be a horrible thing
Even the smallest of children know what a recession is; they soon get to realize that they cannot get the bulk of things they normally get during regular times, and they soon learn to cope with whatever they get. A recession can be a terrible thing. It has caused a lot of people to commit suicides. I have read about situations in which people have lost their jobs, because of a recession, and not only did they take their own lives, but that of their loved ones.
One person who was a Christian, after losing his job for a while and not telling his family, finally came to a decision that it was better for his family to die now and go to heaven, than to stay on earth and suffer. He was used to a certain kind of lifestyle he knew he was never going to maintain without the kind of job he had had previously. So he came home one day, killed his entire family, which included a wife and four sons, covered their bodies in the living room, turned up the air conditioning and left. One wonders why he didn’t take his own life in this situation. In my opinion, this was more of a selfish act than anything else. Actually, it’s always selfish when one commits suicide. It can be very stressful in the time of a recession, but one has got to be careful of how stressful one becomes; stress is one of the reasons for a rise in blood pressure, and blood pressure o/c hypertension is called "the silent killer," which means it can kill without warning.
During Recession, a lot of people are getting laid off work, losing their incomes and employee benefits every day and people are cutting back their expenses, even before layoffs to maintain a fair budget. be choosy on making purchases. for example If you're going to make a purchase like a car, Be comprehensive and consider alternatives. Car is a necessity but when buying you should be practical and realistic.
Entertainment
What is it that you do for entertainment during a recession? After all, there isn’t a lot of money to go around. For those of us who haven’t got a lot of money, we can’t just sit at home and become recluse; we need to go out, but where is the best place to go? We need to go to the cheapest places that we can find, and where is that? In my opinion, during this time, the Movie Theatres are the best places to go. One can go to a matinee, which is much cheaper than regular showings of the same movie you want to watch, and there is no surprise at the end of the movie as far as money is concerned, because you’ve already paid for the movie.
Going to a restaurant, one has to consider paying tips, as well as taxes. When one goes to the Movie Theatres, the prices you’re told, are the exact prices you pay for your tickets. And there are other less expensive ways to watch movies too. These days they have kiosks, or booths from which Dvd’s can be rented for a dollar per day. These kiosks or booths are installed in Walmart. In the time of a recession, one has got to be thankful when one can cook, because in this way, one can save a lot of money cooking meals at home, and it is also a fact that more nutritional meals are prepared at home than anywhere else, and this is good for your health. In conclusion, a recession can be good for us, because it forces us to stop and take a look at the way we do things.
The Gobal Recession is going to come to an end. Remember that there is end to everything that we face in our life's.
