Guzaarish – not a movie for everyone!

Today I was able to watch Guzaarish & I must say that Sanjay Leela has made a terrific movie. Since it’s an art movie, it’s definitely not for everyone. People who have typical views should stay away from it. It’s also not a movie for insensitive people who judge almost everyone & know exactly what is sin & who are the sinners.

Everyone has acted well, but it is basically Hrithik Roshan’s movie. Ethan who was a magician had an accident & became paralyzed. This accident was pre-planned & his so-called best friend was behind it. The protagonist suffers for 14 years & he wants to put an end to it, so he filed a petition in a court of law that he may be allowed the option of euthanasia.

Sophia is his nurse & you may get irritated for a while with the character of Aishwarya but then you get used to it. The songs are all pathetic except the one in which Sophia dances. She has a ghoulish husband who is only seen in one scene where he beats her like mad. In the end, she gets divorce from that bloody bastard. Ethan’s lawyer friend, doctor & student – all have acted well. Nafisa is his mom & she still looks so cute & this time she has acted little bit.

Some of the dialogues will touch your heart. But you have to be a thinking person to understand the pain of someone else, cause the suffering of Ethan is much above all of us. Only when you’re able to understand that agony, you may say yes to mercy killing. It’s easier to hold opinions when someone else is suffering. We may not even have the slightest clue, but we would give lecture on what is forbidden in religion & what is not. We all know what is right & what is wrong when we are discussing someone else’s life. I think humanity is far more important than any religion. And it’s our duty as human beings to help understand things that are incomprehensible but need to be addressed. I believe compassion is the only solution. We believe in not believing & that is not going to take us anywhere.
