I really like this ad. Of course there are controversies about Peta, but they have done some good work.
And the message has a lot of weight: Always adopt. Never Buy. That’s about the ad. Basically I want to talk about something else. I just wish people could decipher the real meaning & be a little human.
I have raised this point earlier on & a genuine animal lover will be bothered to see that high kill shelters not just exist, but they kill animals by employing sadistic methods. Mostly these animals have just 3 days. Now you can’t expect a miracle every time someone abandons his pet at the shelter or an animal is being caught & dragged to these slaughter houses. And the thing is…they do rescue animals from various places & then what happens? If these animals land in no kill shelters, then it’s okay…at least they have a chance to live, but if those animals land in high kill shelters, what’s the point of rescuing them in the 1st place?
It’s obscene to kill a healthy animal & it happens every day. We don’t need angels. We need humans. We have signed petitions; that’s one way of protesting against these killings & torture, but nothing has happened so far. In the past 6 years, I’ve signed countless petitions. And not just that, I even bothered my pals & siblings to sign them. You know every day I read about these abuse cases & animals are killed in creative ways & the culprits invariably get away with the punishment. When I upload the pic of any animal for adoption on my blog, deep down I know that this poor baby may not survive. I often read that people pray for these animals. It’s commendable that they believe in miracles. But I don’t & I find it extremely depressing.
And those bastards worry about women in caves being raped & what-not. They need to think about innocent animals in their country. I’m very sorry to say par yeh log tou sab say baray harami hain! No one has ever insulted them on this point.
I really wanted to build an animal shelter in Karachi, but now that idea has gone out of my head. This is such a crazy place. They kill dogs in posh areas. I still miss those dogs & puppies I used to give food to. Acquaintances say that they will help or adopt the kitten, but later on everyone is off the screen. I have around 10 cats who were supposed to be adopted, but no one bothered to shoulder any responsibility. Now we can’t throw them on the street. It’s real hard work to look after 3, 4 weeks old kittens or very, very ill kitties. What I have seen is that passion is totally missing. They are just into big talk & that has become too boring now. Mostly people in our part of the world do not even bother to think about animals & those who do are usually breed conscious. Many people are against the idea of neuter & spay, cause they believe in selling. It’s a lucrative business. But animals are being abused everywhere & they can’t even protest. Humans have been worse than maggots for this planet.
