Country Music Singer Glen Campbell Diagnosed With Alzheimer's Disease

75-year-old Country Music Singer Glen Campbell-known for hits like "Rhinestone Cowboy," has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. The diagnosis only came six months ago, according to an interview with People magazine.

Alzheimer's disease is caused by memory loss, confusion, and hallucinations and there is no miracle cure for Alzheimer's disease therefore discipline and some adjustments such as diet and regular exercise can help.

Glen Campbell and his wife Kim Campbell said they decided to go on public because he plans a final series of concerts later this year to say "Farewell" to his fans and wanted fans to know and be aware of Glen Campbell's condition.

Latest Findings For Alzheimer's Treatment Could Be Crucial

I think this new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association about Alzheimer's disease can be a major breakthrough for all mankind.

Dutch researchers have discovered that people with high levels of a protein called 'clusterin' are more likely to suffer from brain shrinkage that leads to serious Alzheimer's disease. They have confidently concluded that 'clusterin' could definitely be used to confirm diagnosis of the disease.

The study was conducted on a 1000 participants by researchers from Erasmus MC University Medical Centre in Rotterdam.

Therefore, a blood test to detect Alzheimer's is the key goal of worldwide dementia research and according to the latest findings scientists feel they know which proteins need to be spotted. Reliable and accurate tests will help in developing new and better treatments.

I believe if these findings could really be the 'IT' factor to find treatment for Alzheimer's it would be a great achievement. It is really disturbing to imagine how one forgets about the life he or she has spent. How things are erased from one's mind. How painful it is to have no memories left to look back at because for most people memories are the only treasures.
