This week I happened to watch a story on Salman Khan's love life. Though I did know a lot about him being the bad ass of the Indian movie industry and that he is known to have pretty girlfriends. But this was a detailed account of his love life from his very entry into the industry. People may only remember the much talked about Ash and Kat love episodes. But there is so much more. And the more we get to know about it, the more puzzled we become.
So, anyway for those of us who don't know the records I'd write some details. Salman Khan didn't always plan to become an actor. In fact, his pre acting days, he was actually trying to find a job as a script writer, because he thought he had the flair and talent, which he inherited from his dad Salim Khan, a famous script writer himself. However, he was not very lucky in being recognized as a scriptwriter. But with his good looks, he did get some attention and was offered a modelling job. He was liked as a male model with his sexy looks and attitude to kill. However, back in those days, males models didn't really make it that big and so was Salman Khan.
During his modelling days, he started going out with a female model named Shaheen. Not much is talked about this relationship. No photographs are available either easily. But, what is said, that the two had a steady relationship and Salman's family openly accepted the girl. But, Salman was never really ready to settle down. In fact, somehow, the wait was so killing, the relationships started to crack and room for someone else was made. Something similar happened to Shaheen and Salman relationship. Somehow, Sangeeta Bijlani, the then Miss India and top model soon became the love of Salman's life, while Shaheen quietly moved out of his life.
Sangeeta Bijlani and Salman were also pretty much in love. Their affair was also an open story. Everybody knew about it. Pretty soon, Salman became a big star with the release of his 2nd movie "Maine Pyar Kia". He became a star over night, while Sangeeta Bijlani was a struggling actress, who hardly got any good roles. However, the Khan parivaar allowed the girl to move in to their family with open arms. Somehow, despite the love, this relationship could not see the end of light as well although everyone expected the two lovers to settle down eventually.
After sometime, the relationship became shaky and Salman Khan fell for another hot model called Somy Ali from Pakistan. Sangeeta Bijlani became furious. She was so angry that she bashed Salman across the media left right and centre. Salman Khan stayed silent. Sources said, that Salman Khan knew he did hurt Sangeeta but that he knew he helped her by not ruining her life in the long run. He felt Sangeeta and he could not be a happy married couple somehow.
People also say, Sangeeta made a huge show of their break up by talking to the media although for most spectators it was nothing awkward. People felt history was repeating itself, because Somy did to Sangeeta what Sangeeta did to Shaheen. There was nothing so difficult to understand. Finally, Sangeeta moved on and went to Goa, where she met Indian cricketer Azharuddin. They both fell for each other and got married. Media and close sources often wondered if Sangeeta just got married to prove a point to Salman Khan. But Salman just wished her good luck.
On the other hand, Salman Khan and Somy Ali were deeply in love. Of all his relationships, sources say he was madly in love with Somy. He did not have such a deep bond with any other females in his life. They were close and shared everything. There were no hang ups in their relationship. Even if Salman was approached by a girl, he shared that with her. Although, they were together, Somy had something going on with Saif Ali Khan and Gulshan Grover, but Salman loved her even then. However, Somy Ali's father hated this love affair. He forced his daughter to move out from Sea Rock Hotel and to come back to her father's house, where he didn't want Salman to visit her. However, many people have witnessed that Salman often climbed the pipes to meet Somy in her room without caring what people thought. Salman asked her to move in with him in his family home. This time round, everybody thought, these two love birds would get married.
Sources close to Salman Khan often said, that Salman loved Somy dearly but he felt she was childish and immature and that she was not ready to move with him socially as he was becoming famous. He procrastinated for so long, that eventually Somy Ali got tired. She finally broke up and went to Florida to her mother because she could not financially support herself in India. Salman was hurt deeply, he asked her to come back and even visited her once in Florida. But, this relationship was over. And Salman's dilly dallying was the reason because the girl desperately wanted to settle down while he did not.
Salman Khan was thus once again alone and media and his fans stayed with him during his sad times. Finally, he fell for a beautiful and fake Aishwarya Rai. This couple was considered to be the most beautiful couples of all times in the Indian cine history. In this story, Aishwarya's mother didn't approve of this relationship but the two continued their affair. Again, Khan parivaar accepted Aishwarya as well with open arms hoping that she would be the lucky girl for their son.
However, this relationship didn't go so well till the end as well. It was one of the most beautiful looking tales and the most horrible of love stories as well because when it became shaky, the two lovers forgot their dignity and respect for love and each other. Salman Khan was not ready to settle down yet again and the procrastination couldn't go on forever. They broke up as their relationship was cracking up. But Salman couldn't take this like a gentleman. It was reported, he pushed Aishwarya on the sets of some movie, he knocked and shouted outside Aiswarya's apartment all night embarrassing everyone. He knocked so hard, his knuckles started bleeding. And the final blow was when he went on the sets of Chalte Chalte to fight with Aishwarya.
This was the end of it all. Aishwarya hated him from then onwards. Shahrukh Khan, the main star and producer of Chalte Chalte dropped Aishwarya out from the movie because he didn't want such scenes again on his sets. Aishwarya never forgave Salman Khan for this disrespect and told the media he often abused her. She went on to create such a big scene that she in turn used Vivek Oberoi to call of a press conference against Salman Khan. It all became dirty. Aish became Vivek's girlfriend quickly, used him immensely to throw dirt on Salman and then gracefully left him saying Vivek was using her fame to get attention. Well, it so seems, till this day, she can't seem to miss any opportunity to prove something to Salman Khan since she is one of the most powerful ladies in the Indian cinema industry ever since she stepped into the Bachan family.
Salman Khan was hurt once again and single too. He was shattered people say. However, he made a come back with a movie called Tere Naam, which was a super duper hit. It was his time to finally move on and forget about Aishwarya.
There was another story, which we don't think was an affair also took place after the Aishwarya break up. Salman's younger sister saw an Aishwarya looking girl in her school called Seneha. God knows why but Salman Khan introduced Seneha into Bollywood by giving her a break in LUCKY - No Time for Love. However, it was just one of Salman's silly moves to show he has moved on. On one occasion he even joked in front of the media, on seeing Aishwarya...HI SENEHA and people laughed with him.
By now, Salman Khan has gained the titled of helping young talent and introducing them to the industry. He introduced Katrina Kaif also to Bollywood. She was a rare beauty and was bound to be successful with her good looks even if she didn't act or couldn't speak Hindi. Salman and Katrina Kaif's relationship was always a hazy one. For half of the time, Katrina denied she was his girlfriend. She was always more comfortable with her co-stars such as Akshay Kumar, Neil or Ranbir but hardly that cosy with Salman Khan after becoming a star herself. But for the time they were together, their couple was considered the best looking couple.
And as soon as she set the grounds firmly in Bollywood, she left Salman Khan in a nice manner that she still is in touch with him. Media and Salman's die hard fans say she just used Salman Khan to get successful and he was blind and a big fool to allow that.
Anyway, it is said, that Salman Khan is single now. He seems to be fresh and happy ever since he is single. Looking at his love life, it seems he has always been criticized a bit too much for his relationships although even idols of morality such as Amitabh Bachan, Dileep Kumar, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar who were unfaithful to their wives at some point in their lives too. But Salman has always received extreme bashing or attention, which seems to be unfair for him.
He has had relationships and it seems he does care for the ladies but he does not want to settle down till he really feels it is about time. Most of the times, the procrastination was the result of the relationships doom. Also, of all his relationships, it feels the worse is the Katrina relationship because it just seems vague and showy. Unlike other girls in his life, Katrina never was truly in love rather for her, it was only a mere ladder of success, which Salman Khan was. Once her own purpose was served, she moved on.
I guess, the account of Salman Khan's love life was not at all aspirational. He seems to be a different person and he goes for a straight road but then ends up in a blocked street. Although, sometimes, some people should realize that there is a different path for them and they should figure that out if the old route doesn't work for them. But love or relationships are so important that even stars become blind.
