New Beginnings

Hello to all my wonderful readers that took the time to read this blog. I hope that as I tell my journey to becoming a healthy individual that I inspire others to want to set personal goals of becoming confident in their own skin.

I have the same reasons as most people to want to lose weight: wear the clothes I want, be accepted by society, increase my chances of getting a job, be attractive to other people. I’ve been slightly overweight since age 13 unfortunately I waited until I was 19 to realize that I cannot continue my current eating habits. I’ve always been told I was a pretty girl but there have also been those to tell me I’m overweight. I have always been confident in my body, but I have hit the point where I’m not so confident anymore.I am determined to change that. It begins today. I have tried dieting several times, and try to stay active by playing tennis. Unfortunately I give up after only a few days of my diet. I am getting my readers involved by not only giving then tips to lose weight but also feel confident.

Now that I am a college student it has been so hard to want to be healthy. With vending machines, a variety of restaurants, all you can eat cafeteria food, it definitely takes self control to not take advantage of all that food. Unfortunately I did not have that self control. My freshman year is now over and I have gained 35 pounds since school started in August. I guess it’s a good thing I’m seeing I need to make a change now. My story is not much different than anyone else I just want to share my story to assist the next person improve them self just as I am striving to do.

Today I ate: a banana, half a cup of blueberries, natural applesauce cup, a hand sized portion of grilled chicken, and one cup of brocolli

Exercise: I had 1 hour of playing tennis (which burned as many calories as 30 mins of cardio) I also did some floor exercises. I will post pictures of the exercises on my blog.

I had more energy today than ever! It is so important that a person not lose weight by becoming anorexic or bulimic because that only leaves to further health problems. If you lose weight the healthy way you are more likely to get the weight off and keep it off. Obesity is the number one cause of death in the U.S. Although I’m not obese I want to everything I can to make sure I have a long healthy life. I’ve tried to get my family on the same track not all of them seem to be as motivated as me. My mom is a health addict. I can’t say the same for my dad and sister. I wish they were more supportive of my plan.Today they had a slushy, Chick-fila, donuts, granola bars, juice and ice cream. Very tempting yes, but my desire to see results is much stronger than my urge for that junk food. Wish me luck! Good luck to you too!

Tip of the day: Drink Water! Replace all those sodas and juices in your diet with water
