I completely understand the argument. As doctors, people with lives on their hands, of course we expect them to be “different”. Someone who is better than us, smarter than us, more knowledgable than us. But what we fail to realize as patients alot of the times that they themselves too are only human, prove to error and mistakes. They are only “human”, the cliche goes. And wouldn’t you want doctors to be well rested and well adjusted in their personal lives. That way, they are better people and thus better doctors. I understand the flip side of things but I believe doctors, even more so than us patients, deserve a life. After a stressful day at work, everyone wants to return to a loving family. Imagine a day where many lives hinge on your ingenuity and intelligence, THAT is stressful. I, for one, would just like to say thank to all the doctors, nurses and health care practitioners out there. Thank you for keeping us safe and sacrificing your lives in the process.
