The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will get around Rs20 lakh to put State Bank of India's logo on all property tax bills to be distributed to property owners of the five zones in the city. Thus AMC will get Re1 for thearound 17 lakh bills it will be distributing.
AMC has already begun collecting property tax for the financial year 2011-12.
According to deputy municipal commissioner Arjav Shah, AMC will distribute around 16.5 lakh bills for various residential and commercial properties.
"Of these bills, 12 lakh will be given to residential property owners while 4.5 lakh will be given to commercial property owners," said Shah.
The distribution of bills will be completed before September 30. AMC is planning to collect Rs464 crore through property tax for the current financial year. In 2010, AMC had collected Rs436 crore through property tax. "So far, we have collected Rs120 crore including Rs116 crore as advance tax," said Shah.
For the current year, new west zone has not been included under the collection of property tax as the survey of all the existing properties has just finished.
According to the survey, 20,000 new properties have been added since the last survey conducted 4 years ago.
In 2013, AMC will conduct the survey of the remaining 5 zones to update the property records.
