You need it to build muscle. Your body cannot store it in excess. There are tasty, lean options.
Good choices for meat-eaters are turkey, chicken, and fish because they are leaner than pork and red meat. Ground beef is the absolute WORST. Buy a turkey burger instead. Your arteries will love you. Free range meats are also typically leaner than farm-raised.
As for the veggies out there, I’m sure you have all tried greek yogurt. It’s crazy full of protein, and the non-fat kind is super creamy. It also has less sugar than regular yogurt. Also try almonds, almond butter, black beans, low-fat cheese, and soy products. Whole-wheat breads also have a higher protein content than processed white flour.
You should definitely find a protein powder with a low sugar content that you like (I use vanilla-flavored Aria, which you can get at Trader Joe’s.)
