Ayesha Takia was born on April 10, 1986 in Mumbai and grew up there. Her father Nishit is a Gujarati and mother Faridah, an anglo-Indian Muslim, she is the elder among two daughters. Ayesha attended St. Anthony's High School but never went to college because she entered the world of entertainment at very young age. Ayesha grew up speaking English at home and she worked hard to learn Hindi and Telugu for her roles in movies.

Ayesha Takia would like to be remembered as the cleanest actress in Bollywood. She has reportedly refusing roles that necessitates her to wear revealing and skimpy clothes and even refusing to do intimate scenes with co-stars.

Speaking to the media, Ayesha Takia said, "There're things that I wouldn't do, like kiss and wear certain kinds of clothes. I don't mind losing out on roles. At least 10 years from now I don't want to look back and cringe at anything. I've a family and a boyfriend. And I don't want to embarrass anyone." Ayesha further added, "I'm very happy with the work that I'm getting and I'm being taken seriously as an actress," said the self-styled virtuous actress.

Ayesha: Marriage doesn't mean taking a back seat

Though many of the Bollywood heroines have witnessed the cruel reality of marriages playing havoc with their careers, actress Ayesha Takia begs to differ.

Ever since her marriage to Farhan Azmi, Ayesha has not put her career on the back burner. In fact she is considering doing more films than before.

In Ayesha Takia's opinion, Bollywood producers have been unfair with married heroines. Be that Madhuri or Kajol or anyone else. Married heroines have not been as acceptable as married Bollywood heroes are. According to her this fact remains one of the ugliest truths of B-Town.

Says Ayesha, "I really don't know the reason, but I strongly feel that its a very backward concept. It's very backward to think about a married actress that she should stop living and just sit at home. Most of the male actors are married and managing their families and work together so efficiently. In today's times, it's ridiculous to think that women should take a backseat the moment they get married."

I totally agree with Ayesha Takia. It's indeed a very backward concept. The other day even Sanjay Dutt said that Madhuri should look after her kids rather than work in movies even though she's still a better looker & actor than him. In fact 45 year old men can play the role of a student even today, but if a woman is married, there is just no place for her. It's up to the person to work or not to work, I don't know why the world has to give tips even the person is not at all interested in their outdated & rotten suggestions. It's just that everyone knows what others should do.

Biography: Growing up having faced the camera at age 4, Ayesha Takia is the girl in the popular ad “I am a Complan girl.” She is the daughter of a Gujarati father and an Anglo-Maharashtrian muslim mother. She made her debut in Tarzan the Wonder Kid. Although her films fared poorly, she was immensely popular with the younger audience in India and abroad. Her best performance came with the film Dor in 2006. In spite of having not many hits to her credits, she is a much sought after actress as she has a large teenage fan following.
