A 36-year-old derivatives trader has been charged with the murder of Celine Ng Swee Peng, whose decomposed body was found in Clementi Woods Park on July 6.

Ang Soo Hoon, who was Ng's housemate, is accused of killing the 37-year-old property agent at West Coast Crescent's West Bay Condominium between 3am and 9.50am on May 26.

The boyish, bespectacled Ang, looked worried when the charge was read out to her.

She appeared as though she had been crying and avoided eye contact with some 30 members of the public seated in the gallery, most of them believed to be Ng's friends.

Before last week's gruesome discovery, it was reported that Ng had been missing since her birthday on May 26.

She was last seen at West Coast Crescent in a purple top and black pants.

Ang will be remanded at the Central Police Division with permission to bring her out for further investigations. Read More

SENSATIONAL accusations emerged last night that a North East private investigator targeted former Prime Minister Gordon Brown on behalf of unidentified journalists.

Amid an avalanche of new revelations in the phone hacking scandal, claims were made that Glen Lawson targeted police records to uncover information on Mr Brown.

It is not known on whose behalf Mr Lawson was allegedly acting.

The investigator, who trades in Tyneside as Abbey Investigations, said last night: “I have nothing further to say.”

Former Labour Cabinet minister Nick Brown also revealed last night that police told him an attempt may have been made to access personal information about him on official databases.

Last night, the former PM’s office said in a statement: “Gordon Brown has now been informed of the scale of intrusion into his family’s life.

“The family has been shocked by the level of criminality and the unethical means by which personal details have been obtained. The matter is in police hands.”

Newcastle East MP Nick Brown confirmed police told him “unauthorised disclosures” may have been made from the police and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) systems.

The revelations come after The Guardian yesterday reported Devon and Cornwall police discovered in 2003 one of its junior officers was feeding information to a network of private investigators. Read More
