Girlfriend of prominent Arizona CEO found dead in his California mansion

REUTERS reports that the 32-year-old girlfriend of a prominent Arizona CEO who died Wednesday was discovered hanging naked from a balcony at his California home with a rope around her neck and her hands and feet bound, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Thursday.

Authorities identified the woman as Rebecca Nalepa and said an autopsy was being performed to determine the cause of death. The sheriff's department in Coronado, Calif., said they were not yet ready to call Nalepa's death a crime or a suicide, according to the Union-Tribune.

At the time of her death, Nalepa was dating Jonah Shacknai, the founder, chairman and CEO of Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp., the manufacturer of the popular cosmetic wrinkle filler Restylane, a competitor of Botox.

Shacknai lives in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Jaycee Dugard Explains Horrors of Kidnap Ordeal to ABC News

Jaycee Dugard, who was infamously kidnapped and held in captivity for 18 years, gave an insightful and emotional interview with ABC News on Sunday night.

During the interview, Dugard spoke in detail about her experiences during her kidnapping and testified she did what she had to do to survive the ordeal.

Dugard was 11 years old when she was kidnapped in 1991 from in front of her house in California by Phillip and Nancy Garrido. She was held for 18 years, over which time she gave birth to two children. She wasn’t found until 2009.

Now 31, Dugard told ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, “There's a switch that I had to shut off. Just went someplace else.”

She added, “I can't imagine being beaten to death, you know? And you can't imagine being kidnapped and raped, you know? So, it's just, you just do what you have to do to survive."

Dugard spoke bravely about how she was abducted, describing how she was on her way to school when she suddenly felt “tingly” and “numb” – she had been hit by Phillip’s stun-gun. Her abductors grabbed her and threw her into a car.

She explained how Phillip laughed as they drove away with her, telling his wife: “I can't believe we got away with it.”

Wesley Snipes awarded 3 year jail term

Hollywood actor Wesley Snipes has been ordered a three year jail term for tax-related crimes. Florida Judge William Terrell Hodges rejected a request from Snipes' lawyers to review his sentence and grant a new trial.

In April 2008, Snipes, 48, was found guilty of deliberately failing to file tax returns for 1999, 2000 and 2001.

He then launched an appeal and has been on bail ever since.But finally the judgement has been passed and people feel that it was the right decision. His lawyer will appeal to Supreme court now. Wesley, however, remained calm and positive throughout. He showed no anger or bitterness. 

But I don't really get it...the man must be quite rich. He has a name in the industry and has done many cool movies. And tax related crimes is not good. This is bad.

Ugly as hell

Just now I read this report about a murder of a 4 year old girl who had been gang-raped by 2 policemen. Although they dumped her body but right now they are behind the bars. As one of the cousins of the little girl saw these 2 policemen giving her toffees & luring her to come along with them. People wanted to burn them alive but the area police intervened.

This is nothing new. Newspapers cover such stories almost every day. In fact these crimes are even underreported as most people still believe that such gruesome crimes against children cannot happen in this country. I don’t know how long would it take to wake up stupid people. I have also met educated illiterates who say that women who are being raped are not nice women to begin with & sexual harassment is something that is being done only by the lower classes.

Also while writing stuff on gang-rape, incest & harassment, I have observed that some people go off their heads. Maybe they can’t face their own complexes & fears, & thereby they think it’s okay to bother the writer. We may not have any solution but it doesn’t mean we should ignore as to what is happening in our society.

Few years ago, there was this man Javed Iqbal who sexually abused & murdered hundreds of kids & neither the police nor the media knew about him or the missing kids till he handed himself over to the police. Later he committed suicide in jail but many believe that that too was murder. This man used to dissolve the bodies of kids in acid & when the judge said that he ought to be punished in the same manner, human rights activists had problems.

Things haven’t changed much over the years.
