Terry Pratchett initiates assisted suicide process:

Beloved science fiction and fantasy writer Terry Pratchett has terminal early-onset Alzheimer’s. He’s determined to have the option of choosing the time and place of his death, rather than enduring the potentially horrific drawn-out death that Alzheimer’s sometimes brings.

But Britain bans assisted suicide, and Pratchett is campaigning to have the law changed. As part of this, he has visited Switzerland’s Dignitas clinic, an assisted suicide facility, with a BBC camera crew, as part of a documentary will include Britain’s first televised suicide. Pratchett took home Dignitas’s assisted suicide consent forms.

I had to back out of getting Raiki, something that calms me down, because I’m too scared of actually going to the place to get it done. My social anxiety disorder attacks me each time I think about going, because the majority of people who go to this alternative therapy centre are elderly and… Well, let’s admit it. Old people are nosey and stare a lot. Staring is one of my triggers, which makes me panic and feel very sick.

Eh…

I hope the hospital contacts me about the specialists I’m supposed to see, as it has been months now. You’d think if someone’s health has caused them to drop out of college and be on sickness benefit, they’d sort it out. :c

From grungy to chic

I don’t think people understand that not eating actually does your body more harm than good. Diet in a healthier way.

It has been a long while since I have written anything in this blog about fitness. So I think that is what I will do before heading off to bed.I managed to get to the gym today to do a three hour session before doing other things.Normally I don’t work out for three hours but as with my body,it is taking longer for it to recover since I have reached 40 years old this month and which makes me suitable for an EKG test since at my ago I have a greater risked for a heart attack. But anyway getting back to the workout,I only did some light weights today just so that I can strengthen my left shoulder and do more cardio in the process because I think that the cake I ate last night really put on the pounds on my frame.Which made it harder for me to burn it off completely.I still have more work to do tomorrow or this morning in order for this cake to disappear from my belly and my thighs because cake, especially white cake which probably has a lot of chemicals in it.Chocolate cake probably has more chemicals than the white cake.Of course carrot cake contains a lot of calories.I didn’t head off to the gym that Sunday but I did get a yoga session in that Sunday which was good.

The Al-Qaeda leader, 54, is believed to have been the mastermind behind the tragedy of 9/11, when two airplanes crashed into the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York on September 11, 2001. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the worst terrorist atrocities in the country's history.

Osama bin Laden is dead

Osama bin Laden is dead

Osama bin Laden, the face of global terrorism and architect of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, was killed in a firefight with elite American forces Monday, then quickly buried at sea in a stunning finale to a furtive decade on the run.
Long believed to be hiding in caves, bin Laden was tracked down in a costly, custom-built hideout not far from a Pakistani military academy. The stunning news of his death prompted relief and euphoria outside the White House and around the globe, yet also fears of terrorist reprisals against the United States and its allies.
"Justice has been done," President Barack Obama said in a dramatic announcement at the White House.
The military operation took mere minutes, and there were no U.S. casualties.

U.S. helicopters ferried troops from Navy SEAL Team Six, a top military counter-terrorism unit, into the compound identified by the CIA as bin Laden's hideout — and back out again in less than 40 minutes. Bin Laden was shot in the head, officials said, after he and his bodyguards resisted the assault.
Three adult males were also killed in the raid, including one of bin Laden's sons, whom officials did not name. One of bin Laden's sons, Hamza, is a senior member of al-Qaida. U.S. officials also said one woman was killed when she was used as a shield by a male combatant, and two other women were injured.
The U.S. official who disclosed the burial at sea said it would have been difficult to find a country willing to accept the remains. Obama said the remains had been handled in accordance with Islamic custom, which requires speedy burial.
"I heard a thundering sound, followed by heavy firing. Then firing suddenly stopped. Then more thundering, then a big blast," said Mohammad Haroon Rasheed, a resident of Abbottabad, Pakistan, after the choppers had swooped in and then out again.

Elizabeth Taylor Wanted To Be Late For Her Own Funeral.

The very beautiful legendary Hollywood actress - Elizabeth Taylor left her last instructions that she wanted to be late for her funeral as her publicist announced. It was her parting wish that her funeral should start late and that is exactly how it all happened.

She died of a congestive heart failure on Wednesday and her four children were there with her at the time of her death. She was hospitalized at Los Angeles' Cedars Medical Center for about six weeks.

Elizabeth Taylor was buried at a family funeral in a California cemetery, which is the final resting place of many Hollywood celebrities including Elizabeth's good friend Michael Jackson.

Her funeral was attended by 50 family members. The funeral service began 15 minutes after the announced starting time and went on for one hour. Colin Farrell started the service by reading poetry and her grandson Morrison gave a trumpet performance.

Elizabeth Taylor got married eight times to seven husbands. She converted to Judaism before her wedding to Eddie Fisher in 1959. She had won three Academy Awards, one of them for her humanitarian work. She openly supported AIDS research when HIV was a very new thing in the world.

She went through 20 surgeries and operations in her life. In 1983, she admitted she had an addiction for sleeping pills and pain killers. She underwent treatment for her alcohol and drug abuse. In 1994-1995 she had to replace both her hip joints. In 1997, she got a surgery for her brain tumor.

The world lost a good person, a rare beauty and a great humanitarian worker with the death of Elizabeth Taylor. She always mentioned about her sad childhood - in fact she openly said she never really had a childhood because she was forced to work and earn money. This was one of the reasons why she was such a good friend of Michael Jackson, who suffered from an unhealthy childhood himself. Her last instructions were followed and she arrived late at her funeral just as she wished.

The Famous Butler in The Batman Series Is Dead

The man who dedicated 6 decades of his life to acting is no more. Michael Gough, most popularly known for his role as the trusted butler, Alfred in the Batman films died yesterday at the age of 94.

Michael has also appeared in shows like Doctor Who, The Saint and the Avengers. He also appeared in horror movies such as Dracula in 1958 that starred Christopher Lee. He was a particular favorite of the famous director, Tim Burton who often took him in his movies.

The Age of Innocence, Sleepy Hollow, The Boys from Brazil are some of the other memorable movies he worked in. He provided voices for films such as The Corpse Bride and Alice In Wonderland.

I really loved him as the butler! That was the first time I saw him. He looked absolutely classy as the butler of the rich Mr. Bruce in the Batman films. The man dedicated his entire life to acting. May God bless his soul.

A Quote by Siddhartha Gautama Buddha

"When ignorant people see someone who is old, they are disgusted and horrified, even though they too will be old some day. I thought to myself: I don't want to be like the ignorant people. After that, I couldn't feel the usual intoxication with youth anymore.

When ignorant people see someone who is sick, they are disgusted and horrified, even though they too will be sick some day. I thought to myself: I don't want to be like the ignorant people. After that, I couldn't feel the usual intoxication with health anymore.

When ignorant people see someone who is dead, they are disgusted and horrified, even though they too will be dead some day. I thought to myself: I don't want to be like the ignorant people. After then, I couldn't feel the usual intoxication with life anymore."

Meherjaan - A Film That Has Opened Old Wounds

Meherjaan is a Bangladeshi film directed by Rubaiyat Hossain. It was released last month and was receiving positive response from the critics. However, the movie is not being received positively by the Bangladeshi people itself. So much so that the distributors have decided to pull off the film from all the cinemas of Bangladesh.

The movie is basically set in Bangladesh in the tough times of 1971 when Bangladesh was fighting for its liberation. The movie is about a love story between a Bangladeshi girl Meherjaan and a Pakistani soldier. The Pakistani soldier gets court martialled for refusing to participate in war crimes and atrocities. Jaya Bachchan and Victor Banerjee are part of the film cast which also attracted many serious film lovers.

But Bangladeshi audience is outraged and feel that the movie is degrading the sacrifices and wounds of the Bangladeshi women in particular. People are angry that why are they highlighting a love story of this sort when we know that at least 200,000 Bangladeshi women were raped by Pakistani soldiers at that time and at least 3 million Bangladeshis lost their lives at the hands of Pakistani soldiers.

Four famous writers of Bangladesh wrote how this love story is demeaning the sufferings at the time of liberation war. One of the writer women was herself raped by a Pakistani soldier at that time. They feel this movie is an insult and a form of deception. Thus, the angry sentiments can not be reasoned with.

This was the first time a Bangladeshi film was being recognized by critics and now it is being pulled off from cinemas. The crew is being targeted in the form of a hate campaign for making this movie. The crew find this behavior irrational that everybody thinks that all Pakistanis were butchers and that there cannot be a single Pakistani soldier who could be good natured and who could rebel against the normal situation.

Well, for Bangladesh this is a sensitive topic. They cannot forget the bad times and the suffering during 1971. It is true they suffered badly and till this day they hold a grudge against Pakistanis. Thus, Meherjaan, despite promoting a different view is not going to be accepted by the people of Bangladesh. From the looks of it, the movie did seem pretty decent though. But we appreciate the filmmakers for looking at things from a different angle too. It is true that there will always be a few people who will look at things in a different way.

More on the Davis Murders

So far Pakistan's stance is that they are not going to return Raymond Davis to US as per their demand and constant request for diplomatic immunity. It is not really evident how come our government is pushing back so far...it is very much unlike our government. Experts feel it is because they fear that if they don't tackle this matter in a proper manner, public, which is already unhappy about the fact that a foreigner can so easily enter our country with mysterious business and so easily kills two people (even if they were muggers).

As per some more reports, it is also being asked that why did Davis run away from the scene suddenly when he was very calm at shooting the boys, he got out of his car, made video of the bodies and so much so also talked to somebody on the wireless. These were strangely calm signs and no ordinary man who kills somebody in self-defence would act this way and then suddenly decides to run off.

Another important thing that is being pointed out is the fact that the boys were carrying not so impressive locally made pistols and one of them had no bullets in it also. So far there is no evidence if they even tried to fire at Davis in the first place. Most of the bullets were hit the boy at the back and not on the front...so were they actually shooting from their ass or what. It actually means they were either not looking at Davis or were moving away from his. From the way it is looking now, Davis seemed more of a threat to them in fact.

Raymond Davis said his intention was never to kill the men but he shot them 7 times. May be a common person who gets damn scared might not have any control and can do that in panic. But this trained man knew very well that so many shots would actually kill anyone.

US has itself acted in a mysteriously cheap manner. They have issued 3 different statements about Raymond Davis' identity each saying something different. The last one is their desperate attempt to prove that he was in fact a diplomat of some technical staff.

Again, I'd say this case is naturally much more than we can see. Even a blind person could sense it if not see it. I don't know what would eventually happen and what would be the outcome. But America's stance has been disappointing. If somebody has killed somebody, he has committed a crime so what's the issue if he is dealt with in Pakistan's court.

Mysterious Death

Yesterday I heard this story about a boy who is believed to have died after falling from a plane on the rooftop of a house in Al-Faisal Town. He was 19 year old but he hasn’t been identified as yet. Police said that they sent his fingerprints to NADRA for verification, but the officials of NADRA are denying that they got any specimen. Moreover, doctors haven’t conducted autopsy as yet.

Police haven’t registered an FIR. They suspect the boy was a contractual employee at the airport who tried to flee to Dubai by hiding in the wheels of a plane. The boy is said to have fallen from a height of about 700 to 100 feet. This sounds quite depressing. Someone must have been too desperate to get out of this country. Poverty can make one take such dangerous steps.

His body was found on the rooftop of Haji Afzal’s house. First he heard the rumble of a plane, which was followed by a loud thud on the rooftop. It’s a nightmare to discover a dead body on your rooftop. The police is investigating the authenticity of Afzal’s claim. But I don’t think anyone will invent this kind of story.

The skull of the boy was broken; both his arms & legs had fractured. He hands were blackened with grease & oil. 3 flights had taken off from the airport when this body was found. Although he was wearing the uniform of a cargo boy, but none of the crew members of the 3 flights is reported missing.

This is indeed a very mysterious death. Why would anyone do this to himself? Stowing away in a plane is nothing short of madness. But naturally the circumstances of the boy must have forced him. It also points out that people don’t have anyone to talk to or maybe when they talk, people tell them they have no sense. I find this story very saddening. He was only 19 year old, but he didn’t have any guidance whatsoever. He must have felt so frustrated that he was willing to take this kind of risk. What a painful death it must have been!

May his soul rest in peace!

Remembering Salman Taseer

We all know by now that we have lost someone who had the courage to stand up against the wrong and who knew how to fight for what was right. Sadly, he was mercilessly killed on just another busy day and left us all to understand how hopeless a nation we have become. Our condolences are with his family.

His friends said, he did know that he was risking his life by speaking out loud about blasphemy law.

He wrote on Twitter on 31st Dec, "I was under huge pressure sure 2 cow down b4 rightist pressure on blasphemy. Refused. Even if I'm the last man standing."

Asked earlier that month by the BBC Urdu Service about fatwas, or religious decrees, issued against him in Pakistan, he criticised the "illiterate" clerics responsible.

"They issued fatwas against Benazir [Bhutto] and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto [her father, an executed former president], and even the founder of the nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. I do not care about them," he added.

HAPPINESS:

Yes, it is so inhuman, but there is actually a group that is happy about what has happened because they took it all as a fight for safeguarding religion.

Before this day, I never really searched about him and was quite baffled to see that people have created pages against him and his family calling them as corrupt and wild if they openly showed they were cool about partying, drinking, fun. In a country where almost everything happens, it is so hypocritical to complain about such things and to target people based on these elements.

FIR:

According the sources, the FIR was lodged under clause 302 and anti-terrorism act clause 7 with Taseer’s son Shehryar Taseer as claimant.

It should be noted here that Taseer’s family yesterday denied filing the report saying they will do the same after holding family consultations.

Remembering Nafisa Joseph

We often talk about Nafisa, the smart and happening VJ from India. She was quite impressive as a VJ and almost everyone who watched her, loved her work. Though when I started looking at her pictures I couldn't really find really good pictures that would show how smart she looked really. It seems they don't have good records of people in the 90s or I don't know. It was a shock to hear about her death for her fans everywhere.

Nafisa was born on 28th March, 1979 and died on 29th July, 2004. She was an Indian model, won the Miss India Title in 1997 when she was eighteen. She also was the runner up in Miss Universe pageant that same year. But more prominently, people loved her as a VJ on MTV. It is said, she modelled for the first time when she was only twelve years old.

She also acted in an Indian version of Charlie's Angels called C.A.T.S. that was aired on Sony Entertainment. She edited a magazine called Gurlz.

Nafisa was appreciated for her work for animal welfare. She wrote a weekly column "Nafisa For Animals" in the Bangalore edition of Times of India. She campaigned for Welfare of Stray Dogs (WSD), People For The Ethical Treatment Of The Animals (PETA) and People For Animals (PFA).

Her sudden and untimely death shocked the world when she was found hanging dead in her apartment in Mumbai. People close to her say that she was very sad from inside for many days and had not been socializing. Something was bothering her. Her family blamed her fiance, businessman Gautam Khanduja for Nafisa's death because he lied to her about his divorce status. In reality he had told Nafisa he was divorced for last two years while they dated but when it was decided that they would marry in August 2004, it was revealed his divorce was not finalized and the papers were not yet completed. This meant a delay in Nafisa and Gautam's marriage. Nafisa was sad and felt betrayed perhaps and so she committed suicide.

Although a case was filed against Gautam but not much could be done about it because Gautam couldn't be held responsible for Nafisa's death directly. Media also said that there were problems between the two before her death due to his divorce issues. Nafisa blackmailed him that she would confront his wife while Gautam also blackmailed and threatened her.

Before Gautam, Nafisa also had affairs and engagements with Samir Soni and Sameer Malhotra that didn't survive. So he can't be blamed for such a reason for her death.

Unfortunately, such a bright and lovely girl whom the world admired killed herself in sad circumstances. It only leaves us to think that no matter how happy some people may look from the outside, it is not very easy to know what they are going through on the inside. People very conveniently pass judgements about people who commit suicide without understanding the suffering and pain.

Apparently, Nafisa is just one of the young and aspiring celebrities who was found dead in a shocking manner. Nafisa's friend and co-actor in C.A.T.S. Kuljeet Randhawa, also committed suicide in strange circumstances. She too hanged herself in her Juhu flat in 2006 leaving a suicide note saying that she is ending her life because she was unable to cope with the pressures of life.

Below you can see Kuljeet, I remember seeing her in C.A.T.S. but am quite shocked to know even she died so young.

Rest in peace dear Tom & Darling

Tom & Darling were my friend’s Angelica’s cats & both of them had been poisoned by some cruel bastard. Few months ago, her cat Gueta had a couple of surgeries, but she couldn’t make it either, but it was one tough battle. Gueta was also blind. Plus she had liver & kidney problem. Although animals are being treated well in Brazil, cause they do have facilities to look after very sick cats, but still Gueta died.

Although Gueta used to beat the shit out of Darling, but when Darling used to steal her food, Gueta never hit her once. This was just amazing, but Gueta used to bully her on a daily basis.

Tom was a very friendly cat. He looked a lot like my cat Danny. Even Darling was friends with Tom & Preto, but somehow she couldn’t get along with Gueta, who had too much attitude problem.

Death of a pet is something you can’t get over just like that. 2 of my mom’s dogs were also poisoned & that happened when she wasn’t even married, but to this day, she hasn’t been over it. It’s damn difficult to take natural death or even when we give our best shots.Whenever you bury a pet, you bury a part of yourself & it doesn't matter how long you have been with that pet. Pets somehow make their place in your heart & leave a hole after their death.

As long as Tom & Darling were alive, they had a loving home & that’s best thing that can happen to any animal.

Michael Jackson

I still can’t believe that Michael Jackson is dead. He might not be on the screen for some time but almost everyone in the world knows this man. He was an asset & his death is a great loss for music lovers.

I think he suffered a lot in his life. People used to sue him for one thing or the other. It’s just that people seem to make a person’s life as miserable as possible & even there are many who aren’t satisfied after a person’s death…some think that he had money & everything, so why do we feel saddened about his death? The thing is…Everyone doesn’t have to think alike. His fans will always miss him. He had that sort of voice that drove people mad.

I really liked him in that ad of Pepsi which came in the 90s. He looked really cool in it. Although there are still people who can’t help calling him a child molester…then there was an uproar about the dangling of his baby on the balcony. People never spared him. Even today some people can’t help being bitchy. Some are saying that he was born black & he died white. But then what else can we expect of ordinary people? They don’t even spare humans even after their death. Nevertheless, Michael Jackson has some ardent fans who would never forget him.

Join the Movement to Protect Feral Cats

More than 70 percent of cats who enter our nation's animal pounds and shelters are killed each year. That's 7 in 10 cats! And worse, virtually 100 percent of feral cats who enter pounds and shelters are killed.

It's going on all across America. And it's got to stop. Time and again, representatives of the shelter system say things like: "We kill them to alleviate future suffering; to save them from fates worse than death; because we don't have any room for them and where will they go instead?" This reasoning is wrong at the most basic - and moral - level. Every healthy animal deserves the right to live. It is our duty as a society to find ways to make that happen.

We cannot be silent as countless cats are killed every day. It is time for the nation's cat lovers and advocates to stand and be counted. Sign your name to the pledge to show that you want to see an end to the killing:
