Lee-Chin, Chairman of NCB (National Commercial Bank, Jamaica) recently discussed the impact of NCB being listed on an international exchange, the NYSE or the TSX (Toronto Stock Exchange) in an interview. The benefits of such are;

  • Being the first Caribbean company to be listed on an international exchange
  • Being the First company to raise capital on a global exchange (as it will be an IPO)
  • Psychological boost to the country and local companies
  • Ability for NCB to be compared with their international peers (on a stock basis)… and all banks in the world, who are valued differently
  • NCB would be a part of a bigger market as Jamaica has an inefficient illiquid market
  • Shareholders would be able to trade shares internationally
  • Shareholders would be able to borrow against those shares (margins), and at US$ rates (about 3%).

I will be moving to Jamaica for 2 months, I’m scared, nervous, a little worried but most of all I am ready. I haven’t left Orlando for more than a week in 11 years. 2 months sounds like a little much but when I made the decision I was highly upset. Plus how many people do you know that can say ” Hey, I moved to Jamaica for 2 months when I was 18.” My boyfriend cheated on me and now I just need a break from life. He and I bonded over movies, It was our thing and now my life playing out like a movie and I’m ready! Only 9 more days left in orlando !!
