The world is worried as we are witnessing such terrible catastrophe in Japan with earthquake, the tsunami, continuous quakes and jolts followed by the radiation disaster to the damages at a nuclear plant. Let us pray that this gets over soon and if you can help the children in anyway through SOS, please read more and donate whatever you can.
SOS Children's Villages is supporting children and families in peril in Japan and the Pacific Rim. SOS has responded quickly with the help of generous donations from people across the world and will continue to respond to disasters affecting children.
SOS Children's Villages has significant experience navigating disasters like the one unfolding in the Pacific Rim. In response to the tsunami that struck Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand in 2004, donors helped them build six new Villages made up of 2,232 family homes to support children whose lives were turned upside down with the force of swelling waves.
As the media focus on Japan, SOS is focusing on providing loving, stable homes to orphaned and abandoned children where there are no camera crews or news correspondents. From Indonesia to Haiti, from Pakistan to Japan, SOS Children’s Villages provides families, homes, and supportive environments to over 1 million people worldwide.
Few of those children who do go to school receive the quality education they need to prosper in the modern world. The economic impact of the emergency is catastrophic – billions of rupees a year – while the human cost is much greater.
Let’s join together to force Pakistan’s leaders to finally get serious about providing every child with a decent school and a committed teacher. Sign our petition to make ending the education emergency the country’s no 1 priority.
3 Reasons for signing this petition
We call on you to make education your number one priority in 2011 – the Year of Education – and to set out plans for giving every child their constitutional right to education. At a time of fiscal crisis, we ask you protect education budgets and to explain how, and when, they can be increased to at least 4% of GDP.

Education is the right of every kid. Please sign this petition. It won’t even take a minute. Thank you so much!
This is what I just read on Tribune. The report says that one child dies every minute from EPI (expanded program on immunisation diseases), diarrhea and acute respiratory infection (ARI). Moreover, 400,000 infants die in their first year, which indicates that we have a very depressing health situation in Pakistan.
One ought to give it serious attention, but I don’t think we have the resources. One among 10 children will die before reaching the age of 5 & one among 30 die immediately after they are born. This is incredibly depressing.
Pneumonia & air pollution are the 2 major factors affecting the health of children. Moreover, we don’t have proper child healthcare facilities as such in rural areas & naturally lack of such facilities makes it all the more worse. Maternal, newborn and child health care statistics in Pakistan are some of the poorest in South Asia.
Majority of children suffer from the respiratory ailments, cause they are most vulnerable thanks to their weakened malnutrition. You won’t be surprised to know that children are also suffering from hepatitis and their number is growing sharply. They also suffer from malarial diseases. Diarrhea is rampant, thanks to contaminated water in our country. It is estimated that about 20 per cent of diarrhea patients are children. Similarly, diseases like dysentery, scabies, dengue, goiter are also on the rise.
Infant mortality rate is pretty high in this country & this is quite a grim picture. Children are the future & so many don’t even survive.
“The recent interaction with her was refreshing and indeed I had a gala time. We spoke about our children at length,” he said.
