“Nice” is the bare minimum standard that we as individuals in an integrated society should maintain every day of our lives. It’s nice to notice “nice” in the world…but what a sad commentary it is that simple acts of common decency seem so rare to people that they feel compelled to offer compliments, gratitude and even awards for them.
I am nice (yet fallible with all the frustrations and inconsistencies that go with being human)—and I appreciate when my niceness it is recognized by others. However, please do not apply heroism to what is the very least I should be.
In 2004, brain scans showed that people taking Accutane suffer a 21 percent decrease in frontal brain activity, the part of the brain that plays a critical role in mood and social interaction. These brain changes may explain the depression, suicidal and aggressive behavior, and psychotic reactions reported by some Accutane users.
I took Acutane in high school. Maybe I would have had a better high experience without it. Looking back, I wish I had known more about food and health. If I had eaten differently, I think my skin would have been better and I never would have needed it.

I call this dish the purple people eater.
1 lb Peruvian purple potatoes (or whatever you have on hand) 1 red onion grilled or sauteed 1 garlic clove Parsley (or any fresh herb) S&P Earth Balance (or Olive Oil) Juice of half of a lemon
As you can see this recipe is very very easy and you can adjust it to your taste. I cleaned the potatoes and slightly boiled them, then drizzled with Olive oil and roasted (at 400 degrees.) While they are in the oven saute or grill your chopped purple onion in Olive oil or earth balance and mix in garlic at the end just to slightly heat. After removing potatoes from the oven when the are slightly brown, mix with previously grilled purple onions and garlic, then sprinkled in lemon juice, olive oil to coat (or earth balance) and fresh herbs of your choice. I used parsley in this photo. Garnish with herbs and a bit more lemon. Bon Appetit!
PS The lemon is crucial to this dish as it is what brings back the purple color when the potatoes are cooked! :)
It’s not even 11am and it already feels an eternity. So I should update you guys, not sure how many of you actually read my text posts but whatever. My boyfriend’s mom went to the hospital with sudden intense confusion. She has regained some lucidity but where she remembers some things, she forgets others.
It’s looking more permanent by the day :[ she was supposed to get an MRI yesterday so we should hear of the results from that today. It’s terrible, the boy is 23 and already lost one of his parents last July. Losing both parents in just a year…I can’t even imagine. I am just so thankful I could be here for him.
Please put him and his mum in your thoughts guys, and put that positive and healing energy out there. They really need it right now.

Bottom line: We don’t know the real risks of excessive cell phone use to our health. There is simply insufficient evidence to make a firmer statement than what the WHO has made with their “may be linked to cancer” report.
I like this video from CNN with Anderson Cooper because it does discuss a very simple and real prevention action: use an earpiece.

The most romantic color, pink, is more tranquilizing. Sports teams sometimes paint the locker rooms used by opposing teams bright pink so their opponents will lose energy.
Blue:
The color of the sky and the ocean, blue is one of the most popular colors. It causes the opposite reaction as red. Peaceful, tranquil blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in bedrooms. Blue can also be cold and depressing. Dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth.
Yellow:
Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention getter. While it is considered an optimistic color, people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Yellow enhances concentration, hence its use for legal pads. It also speeds metabolism.
Purple:
The color of royalty, purple connotes luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also feminine and romantic. However, because it is rare in nature, purple can appear artificial.
Brown:
Solid, reliable brown is the color of earth and is abundant in nature. Light brown implies genuineness while dark brown is similar to wood or leather. Brown can also be sad and wistful. Men are more apt to say brown is one of their favorite colors.
