Rape Attempt at Punjab University Hostel

Just now I read this report in which someone tried to rape a girl on Thursday night at Punjab University Hostel. The girl is an MPhil student & said that this man entered her room at around 3 am.

This sounds so scary. How can anyone stay in a hostel where someone tries to rape? Even an attempt is quite a scary thing. Those girls must be living in fear.

One of the students said that this man knew all about the hostel. He was looking for a door that is not locked. Even 2 of the guards were missing at night.

This man 1^st tried to enter the room of 2 girls, but he changed his mind as those 2 woke up. Then he went to the right wing of the hostel to search for another prey. It’s obvious this man was hell bent on raping someone or the other. How can anyone just walk around at 3 am where only girls reside? And he definitely knew his way around the hostel.

Anyhow, Mr. Amin said that the girl must have had a nightmare, cause the guards on duty saw no one entering the building. Very strange but it seems 2, 3 girls were having the same nightmare about a rapist. This seems to be one hell of a coincidence.

One can’t say anything with certainty. The matter has been investigated. But I don’t think any woman would invent this kind of a story. Instead of believing the victim, they invariably presume that the person is imagining stuff. Why would someone imagine something so hideous when there are better options?

HOSTEL reveals hard-hitting truths about ragging

HOSTEL is a film about a student played by Vatsal Seth who enters a notorious hostel and is ragged by his seniors. It's not just about one incident but a string of incidents and is a hard-hitting reality-action film. It shows how students are tortured and harassed in the name of ragging.

"There are many suicides that occur in Indian hostels due to ragging wherein students are beaten up, stripped, paraded naked, starved, tortured, molested and even raped by their seniors. Since victims of ragging find it humiliating to report sexual abuse to their parents or others, most ragging-related crimes go unreported. HOSTEL deals with the serious issue of ragging and through this film I want to show the world what actually a victim of ragging goes through," says writer & director Manish Gupta.

HOSTEL also embarks Tulip Joshi in a fresh and innovative avatar & role, playing the lead in the movie along with Vatsal Seth. Mukesh Tiwari plays the antagonist in the movie.

'Ragging' is a sadistic practice that has become a ritual in most of the Indian hostels. Sadly, the students who are a victim of ragging - in turn vent their frustrations by ragging their juniors in the following years. Thus, this cruel practice continues year after year and has claimed (and is still claiming) the lives and careers of innumerable students. The film HOSTEL is a shocking eye-opener about this evil practice and is a wake-up call for all of us.

The new Indian film Hostel will be a shocking eye-opener for the audience to realize that ragging in colleges and schools across India has become an extremely evil practice. It is about time that people realize that ragging should be taken seriously because due to ragging students are losing their lives and committing suicides.

This sadistic practice has become a ritual wherein students are beaten up, stripped, paraded naked, starved, tortured, molested and even raped by their seniors. Since victims of ragging find it humiliating to report sexual abuse to their parents or others, most ragging-related crimes go unreported. Sadly, these very students - who suffer silently at the hands of their seniors - in turn, vent their frustrations by ragging their juniors in the following years.

Of course, ragging is a serious issue. I am shocked that even after so many years nothing serious is done about this social issue.
