Sleep is very important to recharge our body and help us perform well. Getting at least 8 hours of rest can be heaven sent for someone with a busy work schedule. However this is difficult to achieve especially if your partner snores at night. Obviously you become restless and very distracted in the morning. What can you tell him when he asks you: how do i stop snoring?

We tend to take advantage of our body too much. We hardly have time to rest. Noticeably those with a busy schedule and unhealthy lifestyle tend to frequently get afflicted with these terrible sounds. It does not only affect you. It also affects the sleeping habit of your love ones. Spare them from this monstrous and get help fast.

What Makes You Genuinely Happy?


The British government is conducting an online survey to come up with a well-being index (at www.ons.gov.uk/well-being) and through this survey they will be able to define well-being and happiness.

Already 7500 people have participated in this debate. ONS is happy to conduct this survey to know what people actually think when it comes to well being and real happiness. In this survey, respondents are asked how satisfied are they with their lives and what is happiness for them.

What you would find interesting are the sort of answers the respondents gave. Really cool to understand human nature though this is what the British people think but we can relate to a lot of things.

So here goes the personal definition of well being for different people:

- Earlier respondents said that job security, personal health and relationships with family members made their lives quite content.

- Some people have grand dreams of a better world.

- While some say that it is the little things in life that make them smile.

- Most people suggested that happiness would improve if there were more public services such as libraries and municipal parks.

- Somebody commented 'Having access to open, green space within walking distance of my home' will be quite satisfying.

- Another person suggested what would increase happiness, 'Access to low-cost facilities that enrich life - e.g. libraries, parks, swimming pools.'

- Interesting thing is that some people have taken it upon themselves to consider what results in a good life, which is a problem that has occupied philosophers from the days of Socrates.

- Another respondent said, 'Happiness is a misnomer. It's much better to be content than happy. Contentment is constant. Happiness is an emotional flick.'

- For some people freedom to do things is more important than happiness.

- Of course, a lot many insisted that unless we have money, we don't really have a choice. So money leads to well-being and happiness.'

- But the best response in my opinion was this one 'The smell of opening a jar of coffee would certainly contribute to my well-being.'

These are all sorts of comments from respondents belonging to various social classes and depicts how happiness varies from person to person. I like how parks, coffee and libraries were a part of the answers.

This is important though, that we should actually know what really makes us happy from within. There might not be a proper lifestyle indicator and measures in our country, well not that reliable for sure, but for our own understanding I guess it would be nice to ponder over the things that make one genuinely happy. Do take out the time to discover the things about yourself.

Man Gets Life Sentence For Killing His Daughter

Christopher Grady who ended up killing his 5 year old daughter by speeding the car into a freezing lake.

Christopher Grady killed his five year daughter - Gabrielle Grady last February when he had a fight with wife on the phone. He is now going to face a life sentence for his crime. He drove his car in a freezing lake with his daughter in the passenger seat. His son, Ryan who is six years old was also in the car but he survived.

The Birmingham Crown Court announced during the trial that Grady had split up from his wife Kim Smith sometime ago. He was taking anti depressants and was homeless before he ended up killing his daughter. He was afraid that his wife would stop him from seeing his children.

So before speeding his car into the freezing lake, he told his wife on the phone in an angry tone that she had ten seconds to say goodbye to her children.

Although, he has been given life sentence, Kim is not happy because she will never get back her daughter. She was sad that her son Ryan too went through a lot of emotional torture after the accident and is disturbed after losing his sister. There are no winners in this case. The damage has been done.

Infant Mortality Rate Goes Down By 60%


Although technology is leading to issues like sexting just as my previous post explains, we can also not ignore the benefits of advancement.

Experts feel that better technology and medical care has led to 60% decline in infant mortality rate. This means that now lesser babies die before their first birthdays. However, babies born to very young mothers remain at risk.

In the past three decades, the number of newborns who died within 28 days of birth has fallen by 60% while the number of babies who died between a month and one year has fallen by 68%.

This is a report on UK but the trend is the same for the developed nations. However, England and Wales still have the highest infant mortality rate in Europe and they are focusing on bringing the number down. For countries like Pakistan where survival is a miracle for all, we can hope God will guide us and give our kids better lives.

Man Sick and Tired Of His Ex-Wife


Robert Norman - who is definitely tired of his ex-wife's greed

A Former banker from UK has had enough of his ex-wife's tantrums, greed and good luck, whom he left in 1998 after five years of marriage.

Robert Norman is 43 years old and is extremely troubled by his ex Vietnamese ex-wife, Tina Le Norman who is 47 years old. Apparently, Tina has been financially dependent on Robert even after 13 years of marriage.

Robert says, he is tired of handling this mess any more. His maintenance payments are similar to getting divorced twice. He said Tina just doesn't want to work at all. She used to take £48,000 initially in annual maintenance payments for herself and her teenage children.

Now, Robert is mentally drained out. He is fighting a strong case once again to get out of this unfair situation. The courts just thought about the wife who is not willing to work and ordered him to keep filling her pockets as if it is so easy. Though Norman had a 6 figure salary and the court thought that Tina will be able to manage herself after a few years, but it seems that they were wrong. She kept on appealing and kept on winning while Robert had to take care of her till 2015 according to last appeal she won. I think that was a major turn off for Robert that forced him to take a strong step.

Robert has filed for another case to re-negotiate the payments. His case is strong since Tina has shown in these years that she just wants more money from her ex-husband and does not want to work herself. He wants to cut off all ties with Tina now. If he will win this case, thousands of other similar cases will come up too.

I hope he does win on this one. The man has suffered badly for getting married to this woman. In fact, even divorcing her didn't give him any peace. What a shameless woman! But more than that this also shows how marrying the wrong person can be like a living hell.

People Are Afraid To Weigh Themselves



A survey of 3000 people was conducted for the Co-Operative Pharmacy that has revealed that most people who are overweight or obese underestimate how much they weigh. In fact 1/5th of the people were unaware that being overweight can raise the chances of getting heart diseases. 60% of the sample didn't even know that being obese increases the risk of having cancer and many other fatal diseases.

This has raised the alarm for the health services that people are not aware of what should be their ideal weight and are quite happy being ignorant of the serious risks related to being overweight.

People are embarassed to discuss the obesity issues some how. In fact, most of them are afraid of weighing themselves. They don't want to know how much they weigh to begin with. According to a study published in The Lancet, British women were the fattest of all in any major western European nation.

Well, it is about time that the British people should seriously think about their weight issues. I mean they are just hurting themselves in the process and making their over all genes unstable with such carelessness. They are lucky to have so many options to work out and do physical activities to keep their weight under control. I am amazed they don't bother at all about their weight. I remember the story that my sister shared about that very fat girl from UK also. I remember UK is one place where you walk so much you are bound to stay fit and healthy. But people have become lazy I guess.

Why Are The British Women Upset With Burger King's CEO

It has only been six months since Bernardo Hees who is 40 years old took over Burger King at the position of its Chief Executive. Burger King is a huge chain with 11,500 outlets worldwide. Hees, is under trouble as he uttered a few words about British women that have up roared the women in Britain immensely.

Hees was talking to a group of students in Chicago when he mentioned that in Chicago the food is good and it is known for its good looking women too. He was comparing Chicago with his student life in UK when he was doing his MBA at the University of Warwick. The trouble came when he said that in UK the food is terrible and the women are "not very attractive".

These words are taking him down big time as the British women are absolutely angry on his statements. A women's campaign officer, Charli Fritzner said if he holds such views about women in the academia and considers them as potential distractions, then it is questionable how he views women in the work place.

Women are saying that such statements by its CEO don't make Burger King a very attractive employer for women. Some say, they should just stop buying anything from Burger King as it only makes them fat.

Although, Hees said these words in a very casual manner, his words were noticed quite critically by the world. The company's spokesperson has apologized on Hees' behalf saying that he is sorry if his comment offended anyone. He was only trying to be humorous to connect with his young audience.

Well, I think the British women are being too harsh now that the man has already apologized. Also Mr. Hees should have been more careful because unlike Pakistan in other countries words and actions are carefully monitored and analyzed. Some very small things can trigger the nation and offend many and often what may not sound too big a thing to one might turn out to be a racist remark for others.

Plain Cigarette Packs For UK




The latest from UK is that the government is planning to have absolutely unbranded, plain packaging for cigarettes to make tobacco less attractive for consumers. There will be no logos, colors now but health warnings on the packets.

The British government is also thinking whether to implement a ban on displaying cigarettes in shops so that retailers are forced to sell tobacco under the counter. These proposals will will have an impact on shops definitely.

This plan might be introduced with the national No Smoking Day.

There is no guarantee that all this will actually help in cutting down on smoking. Covering up the displays will pass on high costs on shops.


The Dancing Girls Are Out Of Business


The dancing girls in the Shahi mohallah of Lahore also known as Heera Mandi or Diamond market are pretty much out of business now. It is no more a place where the men used to spend their time looking at the dancing girls who were trained in the arts of song, music, dance and seduction. Unlike other markets, this market was quiet in the daytime but was very active in the night.

Mostly, the dancing girls focused on dance and music but a few were involved in the sex trade also. The reason why they are out of work and most of them have left Heera mandi is because of the bomb blasts that took place near the market. They were afraid that there was no security provided to them. Thus, they were forced to close their business and move out.

Some have gone to other areas of city and some have gone to places like UAE and UK. It is doubtful if they would do well if they go for prostitution in the other countries because laws are different there and they could get into trouble. While some who only focused on dance and music are now forced into prostitution because they have no other way to earn money now. Because of poverty and less opportunities to work, most women are saying that they have no choice but to go for prostitution now.  Some of the smarter women opted to work through the internet and they attract affluent clients for their services.

Thus terrorism and security threats have taken their toll on many occupations of Pakistan. 

Save Our Libraries Day


Today is an important day for anybody who believed in the power of reading and knowledge through books in quiet libraries. Throughout UK, the British people are out protesting on Save Our Libraries Day today because 400 libraries are under threat of closure due to budget constraints.

Therefore with the support of many writers, the British citizens protested against this decision by taking part in mass-reads, author events and much more.

This is sad news for people because libraries provide a free source of countless knowledge. Parents, writers and children have all shown their displeasure towards such a ridiculous decision.

I think it not at all a positive sign for any society. Here we wish for more and libraries where people could acquire more knowledge; where children group up going through all the wonderful children's books. It is an experience and a lifestyle that should be promoted rather than closing down libraries. In modern age, we have well equipped libraries with computers and internet. I think this is one of the most stupidest things I have heard. Who the hell closes down libraries?What is so wrong with a decent institution and noble practice of reading? Or is it all a thing of the past?

Happy Animal Tales

I am so tired of reading sad, painful animal stories. I have decided to share happy stories from time to time. Like I read on the Animal Rescue Site...that after six entire months Sofie the Chow Chow bitch was finally rescued from the woods. The rescue team kept on visiting her with food every day but she didn't let them come near her. She was so scared. She was sick, had worms, lived through bad weather conditions. But finally with patience, she was rescued when she finally stepped in a kennel with food.

She is coping up. She still is afraid of mingling with other animals. Perhaps her past troubles her and doesn't let her. But it is so nice to know she made it out. 

Another nice study in UK reveals more about the behavior of dogs that they can be optimists or pessimists. Most people just talk about conditioning when they discuss dogs but now through this study at least they can be treated like animals that have emotions and feelings. That they can get sad and disturbed due to which they may act in a less enthusiastic manner, depicting signs of pessimism. It is interesting but they need more work to be done on this.
