Psychotic Man Fooled Depressed Kids Into Suicide Pacts

Nadia Kajouji

Mark Drybrough

William Melchert Dinkel - the man who talked to vulnerable and depressed people online and convinced them to get into a suicide pact and take their lives because it was the easiest way to end their suffering.

This is a very sad true story. In 2008, a young girl disappeared from her dorm room at Carleton University. Upon investigation, her body was found in Rideau River. She was a suicide victim.

However, unlike most 19 year old kids who commit suicide, Nadia Kajouji was a well liked girl but she was suffering from a severe depression ever since she had moved to her dorm room. Her friends and family knew a bit but not all.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Nadia was chatting with an online buddy whom she thought was a female nurse and with whom she had entered into a suicide pact. The nurse had made her believe, that it is the best way to end this suffering and that is to do it together.

Sadly, Nadia is no longer alive to know that she was chatting with a psycho who was 48 year old, William Melchert Dinkel. William used to identify depressed people online and entered into suicide pacts but had no intention of taking his own life. He advised vulnerable people on the most painless and effective ways to kill themselves.

William was found guilty for aiding Nadia Kajouji and Mark Drybrough from UK to take their lives. He was sentenced for six and half years in jail and 15 years in probation. However, most of the sentence has been suspended. He can easily get away with only 320 days in prison and then return to jail for two days in the next ten years i.e. on the death anniversaries of Kajouji and Drybrough.
I feel this is unfair punishment for the crime he had committed. Two kids lost their lives because he fooled them. Most people on the internet say this is a very light punishment for what he did and are not happy about it.

It is so saddening to see how kids talk to strangers about their depression and feelings. It makes them vulnerable and like most cases, internet can be gross and you can never know what sort of psychopath are you dealing with on the other side of the screen. Some people like William end up playing with the already disturbed minds of some kids and the damage is so brutal that they even end up taking their lives. The crazy man is alive and the depressed kids are no more. It all seems so unfair.

Jack Wills Breached ASA Rules With Provocative Catalogues

Jack Wills, a luxury fashion label that is preferred by celebrities such as Prince Harry, Emma Watson and Hugh Grant is under a lot of speculation because of its bold advertising. The advertising authorities are worried the label is using extremely provocative pictures on its clothing catalogue.

So far it has been observed that Jack Wills has published catalogues with nearly naked women in the catalogue. They have also shown images of a woman wearing nothing but a brief. Similarly, they have shown topless woman being held by a man and the girl's upper half was fairly prominently displayed. Often, the models pose in a sexual position besides revealing body parts.

It is breaching advertising rules and is not such a positive influence on younger teenagers.
Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) will censure Jack Wills, which is not for the British company that started a decade ago. Though the censor will not harm its position in anyway.

However, Jack Wills has responded that all its models were over the age of 18. Besides they say, that their products are for university students and not for school children. Anybody who wants a catalogue needs to tick and confirm if they are 18 years or older.

ASA is sure that the label is influencing and inspiring school children towards a dangerous lifestyle too early. Also, considering the loyal following of celebrities like Prince Harry and Hugh Grant is aspirational enough.

Jack Wills was started in 1999 but two University College London graduates -Peter Williams and Robert Shaw. Their clothes are quite expensive. They aim to target privileged students and their shops are only in university towns and wealthy areas of London.

I understand that sex does sell to quite an extent and most advertisers seem to use this strategy. It is used as an appeal obviously to touch the senses and catalogues are an important part of a clothing business. I guess Jack Wills already has an impressive client and customer base and censuring won't damage their profits.

It is ok if ASA is taking these measures after a good 10 years - they are doing their bit. But teenagers and kids will always have access to things anyway in one way or the other. It is not easy to hide anything from nobody in these times.

Another demented case of cyber-bullying

2 teenagers tricked a 15 year old in believing that she has an online boyfriend who later on committed suicide & they blamed the girl for this unreal death. They also created a bogus tribute page ‘RIP Jaydon Rothwell’ where 2000 people posted comments. They all were blaming this particular teenager. In fact she had been receiving threats till the police intervened & discovered that it was a bloody hoax. This happened in Britain. Had it been some other place like Pakistan, no one would ever get to know the real story.

These 2 girls had a row with the victim & they decided to create a fake account by the name of Jaydon Rothwell on FB.

However, when police checked the records of sudden deaths, it was found that no one ever existed by that name. We often hear about all kinds of cyber-bullying but this case is of course one of its kind. Those 2 girls even arranged a boy to meet that girl once. They even kissed each other & she really thought it was something special between the 2 of them. Then one day another girl scribbled a flirtatious wall on that fake Jaydon Rothwell page & naturally his gf dumped him. Very soon she got the news that Jaydon committed suicide as she dumped him. Those 2000 members were also pissed off. She received threatening calls & messages from people who believed it was true. Anyhow this hoax began in December & lasted for 3 months.

According to the bogus tribute page, Jaydon took a lethal cocktail of drink and drugs after his girlfriend accused him of being unfaithful.

The girl said: ‘I was grieving for someone who wasn’t real and felt I had been so gullible.’ Moreover her mother added: ‘This has been a threatening campaign against her just for their amusement and has wasted a lot of police time.’

Sergeant Paul Schofield, of Lancashire Police, said: ‘When all is said and done this is online bullying.

‘This could have been so much worse because there was a real possibility she could haves reacted to the news of his suicide. Social networking is a fantastic tool, but can be misused by a small percentage of people.’

It’s sickening to know that teenagers are hatching such ugly plots but this is human nature. Cyberbullying is nothing new. Although the net has been a great tool but some psychotic people will always abuse it. I believe on FB, it is still easier to protect yourself if you change the setting whereas on orkut, anyone could send you abusive scraps cause your scraps were open to all for a long time. Most of us left it, cause it was really annoying & some people just don’t have lives. They enjoy harassing people & the internet is the best place for them, cause they won’t ever be discovered particularly in Pakistan. Moreover, romance in real life can be so deceiving & the idea of one on FB is more of a joke.

The Boy Who Fell Off The Plane

On Sunday, we got to know that an unidentified body of a young teenager was found at the roof top at a residential apartment in Al Faisal Town, Lahore. People reported that they saw a plane flying off first and then they saw a live boy falling off from the sky on to the roof top where he was found dead. His body was all fractured and broken. The skull itself broke and hardly anything survived after falling off from such a great height.

The body was not identified. The boy was seen in the cargo officer uniform. It was said that the boy was hiding on the plane's tyre and planned to go to Dubai hiding in there. But somehow, he got confused and died as a result. It was an Air Blue flight which was going to Dubai. There were reports that when the flight took off the pilot reported that there was a problem in the landing gear but then after some time the problem was resolved.

We just got to know that the boy is a 19 year old boy named Qasim from Lahore. He was a school going student and was missing from a few days as his mother reported that he left for school in uniform with his friend but didn't return for a few days. They were searching for him. Somebody from the airport said, that they found a bag at the airport with a uniform and some books that helped them to identify that the dead boy was in fact Qasim.

His mother denied the fact that Qasim didn't want to go anywhere out of the country. Or perhaps she was unaware of what was going on in his mind. It is a sad situation though. Only the boy himself could have told what was going on in his mind. If he was really tired of the way things were and wanted to run away from this country. Or what is all a joke or some daring stunt he wanted to pull off or was he too inspired by some more. We can't tell. Life seems so unimportant it seems.

Controversial series 'Joy Of Teen Sex'

A graphic Channel 4 show that teaches teenagers Kama Sutra positions has been branded as 'porn' by the UK's leading broadcasting watchdog. Controversial new series The Joy Of Teen Sex aims to offer advice to youngsters concerned about their sex lives. But the programme contains graphic scenes of lesbian sex as well as offering a 'guide to anal sex'.

I guess different people will have different views on it. The purpose of pornography is to arouse people & by watching this, teenagers will definitely get excited about experiencing stuff that parents may not like. In any case, they will try out things no matter what. I don’t know if it’s right or wrong but you can’t teach the art of love-making to kids at such a tender age. They may get excited, which is natural but that doesn’t mean they won’t ever get hurt.

Moreover, teenagers will get hold of porn stuff. I don’t think Channel 4 needs to educate them about healthy sex. They are capable of exploring sex on their own without any help. And right now I think the concept of Kama Sutra would be much above them. Can you actually give practical advice on sex to teenagers? Is it possible to teach stimulation of desire or to look for a steady lover or arousing a weakened sexual power? I think these things happen naturally. We don’t need to teach teenagers that they should answer the doorbell wearing bathrobe & once the door is closed, they should reveal what’s beneath. Anyone can do wonders with his/her hands…even when you ban your hands, you can still have fun.

There are millions of nonsexual ways to show someone you like them & the thing is if you really want to be loved, then you must honour your man or woman. How come no one ever educate this?

Oh by the way grey is the least erotic colour.

Those were some days!

I’m not at all nostalgic, but due to some hilarious happening today…I recalled what we guys did as teenagers. Beyond any reasonable doubt, teenage years are the most fun years of your life…at least my experience had been so.

When we were in 9th grade, our Math teacher was the one who taught Biology to the Cambridge section for a long time. Naturally she had not much knowledge of Math. She couldn’t conduct anything to us. All the 3 sections were quite pissed off. Once we all got really bad marks in the test. Many even flunked. Before the next test, we all had a meeting & we decided to stay back at home & missed the 2nd test. Most of us didn’t come with the exception of few. There are such people everywhere. Although they were right, but they weren’t with us & that’s what mattered. We didn’t believe in things like…if you’re not with us, you are against us. We didn’t have time for that. Anyway our Chemistry teacher gave us all a good piece of her mind. She said that we went on a strike. We acted like hooligans. Although we did complain from time to time, but we were never taken seriously as we didn’t have to give the Math exam in the 9th grade. Even today I do find it funny.

The second incident is the one that happened in college. We were in 1st year. We had to vote for the CR. We all did massive rigging & the girl from our school became the CR. It seems unbelievable now. But one is capable of all sorts of things. It was funny even at that time & it seems funny now.

Oh boy I haven’t missed that person for a long time!
