Stars who despised each other on set

Stars who despised each other on set

When egotistical actors are cooped up together for months on end on a movie set there’s always going to be friction. On the whole though, lavish trailers and massive paychecks help smooth over any niggles. Yet sometimes the angst gets too much for these pampered princes and princesses. They may be actors, but even the most experienced stars can’t hide their genuine dislike of fellow performers.

Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett

The legendary Harrison Ford didn’t take too kindly to whippersnapper Josh Hartnett on the set of ‘Hollywood Homicide’. Ford reportedly referred to Harnett as a "punk", with the young actor retaliating by calling the veteran “an old fart”. As a result the pair barely made eye contact during filming and continuously picked on each other at press junkets. The film flopped.

Megan Fox and Michael Bay

Megan Fox shot herself in the foot when she slammed ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ director Michael Bay for focusing on special effects and not acting (probably for the best as it starred Shia LaBeouf and, well, Megan Fox). Bay responded with; “That’s Megan Fox for you. She says some very ridiculous things because she’s 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that”. He then didn’t cast her in the next ‘Transformers’ film. Whoops.

Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey

The two came to despise each other after a massive row on the set of ‘Red Dawn’. When Grey was informed that Swayze would play her on-screen romance in the iconic ‘Dirty Dancing’, she was so upset that she almost pulled out. Eventually though they had a deep heart-to-heart and made friends. Years later Grey broke down into tears on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ as she remembered her time with the late actor.

Bill Murray and Lucy Liu

Comedy actor Bill Murray couldn’t even raise a smile whilst filming ‘Charlie’s Angels’, as he took a serious dislike to Lucy Liu. It was rumored that Murray thought Liu had an out-of-control ego and he refused to make any appearances in support of the movie when it came out in 2000. He also turned down reprising the role in the sequel, ‘Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle’. In retrospect a good call.

Bette Davis and Joan Crawford

The granddaddy of Hollywood feuds - Bette Davis and Joan Crawford absolutely loathed one another. While filming ‘What Happened to Baby Jane?’, Davis actually kicked Crawford in the scene when she pushed her down the stairs. In return, when Bette had to drag Joan off her bed, Joan put on a weighted diver's belt underneath her costume, making her heavier to drag.  Naturally, the duo also pitched in with some a-grade bitching. Discussing Davis' hair, Crawfod said: “I don't understand these Poodle cuts on elderly women”. Davis retorted by saying Crawford was “single handedly responsible for the syphilis outbreak in America.” Meow.

Sir Anthony Hopkins and Shirley MacLaine

Anthony Hopkins thought the boisterous Shirley MacLaine was overbearing and was constantly annoyed with her while filming ‘A Change of Seasons’ in 1980.  When asked what she was like, he fumed “she was the most obnoxious actress I have ever worked with." Don’t sugarcoat it Ant!

Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe

Even though Curtis was rumoured to have had an affair with Marilyn Monroe during the making of ‘Some Like It Hot’ in 1959, he still managed to say that "kissing her was like kissing Hitler". She drove him crazy by continually arriving late for filming and always fluffing her lines. To make matter worse, director Billy Wilder would always use Monroe’s best takes while leaving Tony's choice deliveries on the cutting room floor.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes

Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes weren't didn’t exactly see eye to eye by the time ‘Romeo & Juliet’ finished filming. Danes grew tired of DiCaprio's onset pranks, branding him "immature", whilst he found her uptight and prudish. Not exactly star-crossed lovers.

Marlon Brando and Sophia Loren

Sophia Loren was cool and seductive while Marlon Brando was edgy and angry. Inevitably, when the two came together during the shooting of ‘A Countess from Hong Kong’ in 1966, the fur began to fly. A feud broke out after he asked her, right in the middle of shooting a love scene: "did you know you have hairs up your nostrils?" Smooth.

Val Kilmer and Tom Sizemore

This feud during filming of ‘Red Planet’ began when Kilmer got annoyed over a fancy exercise machine Sizemore demanded the production ship from England to the set in Australia. Eventually the two hated each other so much Kilmer would reportedly not come out of his trailer if Tom was on the set. Many of their scenes together were even filmed over shoulders of photo doubles, if we are to believe some reports. Also, Kilmer reportedly refused to say Sizemore's character's name, substituting it for things like "Hey, you!".

The Radicchio

Aunt Magpie brought us over a goody bag last week full of delicious things. Pesto, vodka sauce, good champagne, crusty French bread, fresh tortellini, tomatoes, peppers, butter lettuce… and radicchio.

We gleefully put together several drawn-out meals with the goods. We drank the whole bottle of champagne in one sitting. We tossed together a colorful, delicious-looking salad. Atop it sat the shredded radicchio, adding a beautiful maroony-red depth to the palette.

We sat and ate that salad. And discovered something horrifying: we HATE radicchio. Bitter gasp-inducing radicchio. Even more horrifying, we had enough left to make several more salads. I thought, “surely this beautiful veggie has more to offer us? It has such a pleasant name. It sounds so fancy. I would like to be the type of girl who orders something with radicchio in it and say it with a fine Italian accent. Radicchio.

Off I scampered, to make this fierce leafy veggie more palatable to our obviously uncouth tastes. I tried braising it, I tried roasting it, I tried sauteeing it; I ate it with polenta, with quinoa, with bread, atop things we normally quite like. Still, no dice. The radicchio-love eluded us.

Today, again we sat and ate polenta and quinoa layered with pesto and mozzarella, with a hefty portion of delectable looking balsamic radicchio as the piטce de resistance. Surely with plating like that, radicchio would win us over. After the first bite we set our forks down and thanked God almighty that this was the last bit of the stuff left in our refrigerator. We hunched over with resolve, against the power of our gag reflexes (yes, we uncouth people have strong ones) and finished it. That is the straight story of how we discovered that we despise one of the healthiest and prettiest foods in the world.

We are breaking up with radicchio for good. Goodbye forever! I regret not having fine enough tastebuds for you, bitter friend. Let the veggie gods smile upon us and bless us with many other, more delicious salad toppings.

Mother Kills Her New Born Child

Every sane woman dreams of having her own child. Most women look forward to the time when they will hold their child in their hands for the first time. In fact, many mothers claim it is the most divine feeling in the whole world. But, these sentiments are of course not shared by every mother.

In Islamabad, a newborn baby boy was strangled by his own mother and grandmother at PIMS yesterday. Both the women were arrested as the hospital warden registered a case against them. The interrogation revealed that mother of the child got married to a relative of hers after she got pregnant with another man. She admitted that she was having an extra marital affair with another one of her relatives who is a 35 year old man. She had to hide her pregnancy and so quickly married another man.

Surprisingly, just after three months of marriage the girl had to be taken to the hospital on Wednesday when she had labor pain and she ended up giving birth to an otherwise very healthy baby boy of 2 kg. The grandmother of the child said that the baby was the result of an illicit relationship and so they decided to finish him off. The grandmother took the child in her lap and strangled him as told by the mother.

I am amazed at the man who even married the pregnant woman without ever thinking she was expecting and not only that - what was he thinking when he took her to the hospital to deliver a baby just 3 months after the marriage? Did he even have a brain or not? And these women sound disgusting. These women don't only disrespect motherhood but also demean the very existence of woman kind itself.

Two pregnant women tortured & killed by husbands

2 pregnant women were killed in Khanewal & Vehari by their husbands. In-laws were also party to it. The police have arrested both the husbands & one of them has admitted his crime.

In both the cases, the husbands believed their wives had illicit relationships.

Asma, who was 8 month old pregnant was actually killed in front of her mother. They (the husband & his family) beat her with iron rods. The signs of torture were visible on the body of the victim. Moreover, they were about to bury her, but the police seized the body.

Shaista is the other victim. She was also 8 month pregnant & the husband suspected her of having an affair with someone. She died after severe torture. Her husband has admitted that he killed her, cause they used to have constant fights. She wanted him to move out of his parents’ house.

These are cold-blooded murders. It just proves that there is not much difference between humans & beasts. Husbands are ever ready to kill wives on suspicion & they usually get away with it as well.

Incidentally both the victims were 8 month pregnant. One has to be really heartless to go on torturing pregnant women. Can’t they just divorce women, if they think they have cheated on them? Is it essential to murder someone? Does that make anyone man enough? We all know the answer to it.

China Creating Marriage Database to Expose Cheaters

The government in China is creating a marriage database, which it hopes will be a useful tool to expose cheaters. As the wealth in the country has exploded, it has created a culture of secret mistresses and second wives, even though bigamy in China is illegal.

According to a recent report, Beijing and Shanghai will be among the first places to put a marriage database online this year. The plan is to have records for all of China online by 2015.

Can’t say if exposing cheaters will solve the problem? Those who cheat on their spouses will find a way to cheat no matter what. However, it’s good that China is taking this step. It would be so much better if they would do something kind for animals in their country as well.

Moreover, it’s just not in China, we all know there are women who accept their husbands & have no problem with cheating, cause they have this mentality that at the end of the day my husband will come back to me.

I think the best way to spite your unfaithful spouse/loved one is to have some fun with someone else for a while. You don’t have to have real fun or an affair…you can just pretend. This gives instant result. Or you can just leave the person but that is not very easy, particularly if you have kids & you are greedy. Speaking of which reminds me of women who keep an eye on their loose husbands & only get headaches & tensions. Just what’s the use if shit returns to you at the end of the day? Everything is tainted now. Love above everything else is the biggest joke of the century.

Words

“Home was a place you lived in, love was a thing you didn’t fool yourself about…happiness was a term of hypocrisy used to bluff other people, a father was an individual who enjoyed his own existence, a husband was a man you lived with & kept going in spirits. As for sex, the last of the great words, it was just cocktail term for an excitement that bucked you up for a while, then left you more raggy than ever. Frayed! It was as if the very material you were made of cheap stuff, & was fraying out to nothing.”
