Make yourself unstoppable.

Ran 3 miles. Walked 2. Jumped rope for 25 minutes.

Ate a tablespoon of cinnamon… for fun, at the boys house. Haha. Saw it on Tosh.O and I said, “Why the hell not?”

It burned. Like, oh my lord, did it burn. Haha, but it was good fun.

No practice until Saturday or maybe Friday. :(
Gonna be jumping rope at my house. But it’s not the same. Haha.

I’m… Like… BEAT.

Live Healthy With Omega 3 :

Omega 3 Trans-acids come from fish oil, which comes from the tissues of oily fish. This source of Omega three is one of the finest sources available and it provides many health and fitness benefits. Fish oil is one of the finest supplements that folks can add to their diet for we could never eat enough fish to experience all of omega three advantages to improve a person’s health.

Arize - Ingredient And Advantages Of The Product:

A costumer must usually possess the mentality of evaluating the product first before quickly purchasing it. The very best method to do this is to study online and understand all of the information concerning the product. Essentially, the comprehensive explanation introduced through the manufacturer regarding their product is not sufficient so it’s also perfect to gain information by going to other retailing websites also as weblog websites. With this, you’ll be able to augment your information concerning the product you’d prefer to purchase and this could assist you to create a wise purchasing choice. So when you have any interest…

Let me just remark upon the oddity that is arm and hand sweat.

Like, what the fuck.

I was doing Insanity as usual when I noticed that my arms were glistening. I swiped a shaking hand across my right arm and noticed I’d been sweating on my hands and arms.

Uh, gross.

Not only was my face covered in the stuff (that’s what she said, by the way), but my hands and arms, too? I think this is super-scientific proof that Insanity works. One day I will meet Shaun effing T and tell him that all his workouts made my hands and arms sweat and that this had never happened before and dear God, does he know how sexy he is?

Anywho, I’ve discovered this new joke of a tv show called Jerseylicious. If you don’t know about it, all you need to know is that it features a bunch of Jersey hairstylists/makeup artists who dress like carbon copies of Snooki and specialize in the art of loud and trashy confrontation; they are also masters of the ‘smokey eye,’ which is really just a fancy way of saying ‘overzealous application of black eye shadow .’ It’s a good time, mostly just because these women (sometimes men) dress so… er, exotically

I mean that in the best way, I really do.

Weird symptoms, explained - Healthy Living on Shine

Symptoms of Nasal polyps. A common cause for nasal block. http://bit.ly/dD46eL health nasalpolyp

Difference between wanting and needing:

I’m dirsty:

  • I NEED water.
  • I WANT diet coke.

I feel a little bit weak:

  • I NEED sugar as in fruits.
  • I WANT sugar as in chocolate.

I’m hungry:

  • I NEED food.
  • I WANT junk food.

I’m not that hungry:

  • I NEED to wait for dinner.
  • I WANT to go for a snak like some chips or something.

I’m bored:

  • I NEED to work out, take a walk, etc.
  • I WANT to stay in my couch and watch TV.

Always remember:

“NOT EVERYTHING YOU WANT IS WHAT YOU NEED AND NOT EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS WHAT YOU WANT

So as you can see from my last post (the picture of the grocery cart), I’m still making an effort to eat healthy. Luckily for me, I have an amazing grandmother who’s house I stay at all the time, and she’s been so great at helping me eat healthy. She took me grocery shopping with her and let me get whatever I wanted to continue on this healthy journey. Of course the whole cart wasn’t mine, but having so many options is making it a bit easier mentally.

I’ll be honest, I DID have a plate of rice for lunch this afternoon, but I was starving and there was nothing to eat. But after we went grocery shopping I made a salad and grilled chicken for dinner. Not the most satisfying dinner, but still good. Even though all this healthy eating is making me hungry like all the time, I think with time my body will adjust to the new portions and content that I’m eating and I won’t feel so hungry.

All in all I did pretty well today! I avoided buying sodas, ice cream, chocolate, candy, white bread, pasta, cookies (except for 1 box which I’ll have every once in a while as like a reward or something), high-sugar cereal, and basically anything else I would’ve jumped at before.

I know chicken is good to eat, but what else is healthy for big meals? I don’t like fish (I know, that really limits things), and if anyone could give me more food ideas as opposed to saying like protein, calcium, etc. (cause I don’t know what has that), I’d really appreciate it! Thoughts?

My skin is always something I’ve been complimented on. (And I want to be a Dermatologist). SO, here’s what I use. It’s all God’s tools, so I take no credit. I get an aloe vera leaf from a plant and trim the top off. Then I extract the clear goo on the inside and place it into a bowl. Then I refridgerate it and apply it to my skin every night before bed. I also use apricot oil two to three times a week on my skin. Even my face.

WTH! How does this happen!?! A Russian woman died from a heart attack brought on by the shock of waking up at her own funeral. (yeh, that would do it for me lol!)

49 year old Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov was mistakenly pronounced dead by doctors, but she woke up later in a coffin surrounded by crying relatives. She started screaming after realizing she was about to be buried alive.

Mukhametzyanov was rushed back to the hospital where she was declared dead AGAIN, but this time for real. Her husband, Fagili Mukhametzyanov, was terrified saying, “Her eyes fluttered and we immediately rushed her back to the hospital but she only lived for another 12 minutes.”

He has plans to sue the hospital. “I am very angry and want answers. She wasn’t dead when they said she was and they could have saved her.” A spokesman at the hospital said officials were investigating. I bet they are…

So I was eating a gigantic piece of chocolate when…

I saw that the latest catalogue for Anthropologie had arrived. Naturally, I’m too poor to get anything from there that is not on sale, but I started perusing through potential fall bargains in the June edition of: “if only you were rich.” When suddenly, I came across this photo. This girl looks so elegant. And LOOK! She’s eating something! Granted, she’s probably not actually eating whatever this is. So, to make a long story short, I saw this picture, put the damn chocolate back, and walked upstairs. That’s true inspiration for ya.

Here’s the full catalogue if you find yourself stuffing some food in your mouth on this fine evening:

    http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/category.jsp?navAction=jump&viewall=true&id=CLOTHES-CATALOG3&cm_re=May_11-_-053011_hmpg_catalog-_-catalog1

Woot! I celebrated by eating a chocolate donut, a small piece of berry crumb cake, a chocolate chipper from Panera, and an iced grande cinnamon dolce latte. And half a bag of cheddar popcorn.

Don’t worry, there was some space between these things. A couple minutes, at least.

they’re called mio, and they’re really neat! they take your heart rate, tell you how many calories and grams of fat you burn in a workout, how many minutes you spend in, above and below your target heart rate and your average and max heart rates during a workout! the best part is, if you touch and hold the outside of the watch face, it takes your heart rate right there! it also connects to the computer with this chest strap thing and you can upload all of the information to a website.

hopefully i can have it all worked out by friday, because there’s a big pile of instructions i still need to read!

The Boss is having a rough night. She’s thrown up four times in the last six hours, and she has a slight fever. So far, no bloody stool or eardrum-rupturing screams. Just a kid who’s too hungry to sleep yet too sick to eat or nurse.

    I hope she’ll be okay.

Today wasn’t too terrible, health wise. For breakfast, I had two slices of ham and a pickle (we were all out of eggs). Lunch: chef salad with low calorie/low fat dressing. It was a very scrumptious salad, I’ll be having another one later. I had some pistachios for a snack, and a lemon-pepper pork chop and green beans for dinner. For dessert, I had honey roasted peanuts, and thought I was doing quite excellently until my dad gave me cherry pie and vanilla ice cream. I didn’t want to be rude, since it was so sweet of him to make it for me, so I had it. Dessert has always been my weakness. Overall, I think it was a good day.

Something that’s been helping me is thinking, “Would I rather have this now or be skinny later?” And more often than not the answer it in favor of the latter. Another thing that was helpful was thinking of my daily carbohydrate allowance as money. Do I want to spend that ‘money’ on potatoes at dinner, or on ice cream at dessert? Since I’m a fan of dessert, the answer is almost always in favor of ice cream. :P

Hopefully tomorrow will be another good day! I’m feeling optimistic about the future. I hope you are too.

Today was a very big slab of proof in just how far my body has come since moving to NYC. Yesterday, inspired by an episode of Anthony Bourdain trekking around Boston, I ordered a pastrami sandwich after work in a nearby deli. Oh my fucking god, was that thing full of meat. It looked more like a cave where a small monster could hide out, rather than a sandwich. I ate it with relish, over stuffing myself, but enjoying the taste anyway. I sincerely regretted that decision however, at 2 in the morning trying to go to sleep with a lump of meat in my tummy. If I’d been in Orlando, this wouldn’t have been a problem. My bedroom was built within the garage, where we kept an extra fridge for all of our food. So I often fell asleep in high school and my early college years, after self medicating with slabs of meat, potatoes, sugary drinks, and whatever else I could get my hands on. I went to sleep better with food in my belly.

But those days are far over. My bedroom now lies 3 stories high of any food source, and I took up dog walking as a job which did an immense job of exhausting my body in all the right ways. My cousin also doesn’t eat a lot of red meat, so most of my diet turned into heavy vegetables, and fruits. The occasional fish or chicken, maybe turkey pops in too. Slowly but surely my body changed gears, and I happily went along with it. Seeing how much ‘damage’ one pastrami sandwich could do to my mood/body chemistry/sleep habits really sort of shook me up and made me appreciate all the changes I’ve been able to make for myself.

    Man, I love New York.

So this evening, I went and took a nice jog/walk over to my local park. I managed to jog the WHOLE way there (super impressive), and I made a lap around, and surprised myself again by deciding to make another lap. I had to only walk that one though, because my core muscles were kicking up a storm and making it hard to breathe.

Ugh, my life. Such in a good place. Years ago I would have never imagined my stringing praises of physical exercise. It’s taken me a while to get where I am and appreciate it now, but it’s been all worth it. When I run, swim, walk, or do yoga, I think, “This isn’t just for me. This is for my kids, my future self, my family, or the person who might one day get my organs when I die.” I don’t just do it for me, I do it in a communal sense. And cause it just damn well feels good by the end of it. Even though the first 5-10 minutes can be fucking wack and I feel miserable. But it picks up after that!

my glasses choices… by walkinthesnark on Polyvore.com

It’s a sad truth. I found out on Monday that I’m going blind.

Ok, maybe I only need a small prescription, but until I get a pair of glasses on my face, not being able to see across the room has gotten pretty annoying. Especially since I don’t have the kind of job where I stare at a screen/read all day (not that I would want that job).

Luckily, I already knew about Warby Parker. You can order five pairs of non-prescription glasses to try on at home, and then buy the pair you like with your prescription for only $95.

These are the five I selected. What say you, tumblr world?

Yes, it is a thing! Right here.

    WOD: CrossFit

I was introduced to Overhead Squats.

Makes perfect sense. Beer please. :P

Here are a few things you can implement to help you stay on track:

    • Set Goals– Set weekly goals to follow. Start out with “baby steps” and work up to bigger ones. Keep them realistic to avoid disappointment.
    • Get a Partner– Try to find someone that wants to embark on your journey with you. You can then keep each other accountable for you workouts and diet.
    • Empty Those Cabinets– Throw out (yes you read that correctly) all your junk food at home! Take away the temptation and it will be much easier to succeed!
    • Make Small Changes to Your Diet– Most people’s diets fail them because they try to abandon their old eating habits all at once. Some people may be all or nothing but not all. Slowly work more fruits and veggies and healthier meals into your daily routines.
    • Schedule Your Workouts - Give your workouts priority! Our lives are very busy so schedule in time for your workout just like any other important meeting or appointment.
    • Keep Your Workouts Fresh– Change up your workouts and try new things to stave off boredom. Most people quit because they are bored or plateau. Keeping things new and exciting will keep you interested and motivated.

Midweek update. Bit of improvement around my abs I think.

Midweek update. Bit of improvement around my abs I think.

      Ryan Reynolds here I come!

      Before the Challenge Begins...

This is my first challenge program. It’s made to help create a healthy, fit lifestyle for those aiming to lose weight. There are a few preparations before it begins on Sunday, June 12. Here are some preps you need to know:

      1. The challenges go week by week. Every day is something different, but there is always a basis to the reason the work outs were picked.

      2. The first day the weekly challenges are on Sunday. Those are the days that are most preferred for weigh ins.

      3. Along with the work out regimen, I will occasionally put in a few dieting tips. Truth is, the dieting is up to you. To find your perfect diet, use these steps:

        A. Become a member of loseit.com. This website will tell you the goal amount of calories you should eat a day to lose the weight you want. B.

It’s preferred that you also join Dailymile.com because this keeps track of how much running is done a week. I didn’t use it as much, but then I got into it and I find it to be LOADS of fun. C. Last but not least, I’m part of my-calorie-counter.com. This website has thousands of low calorie recipes, and it’s my favourite way to keep track of calories.

      4. When you have done these steps, message me your usernames so I can follow you! I want to follow anyone who is willing to work hard and be healthy.

      5. Here’s one major rule: Please, try NOT to use laxatives, or force your body to do things it is not supposed to do. This is supposed to be as healthy as possible guys…

      6. Say it is Monday. At night, I’d pose Tuesday’s exercises, just so everyone is kept in the same place and you have a head start of knowing what you need. Depending on the week, you may need different things. Those would also be posted the day before hand. My first posts for the challenge will be up this Saturday.

      7. Here’s a bonus: Every week, I’d like it if some followers told me how much they lost, what their favourite exercises of the week were, any improvements, or anything along those lines. I want you to get into this program so you, too, are helping others. The top two or three responses will get major promos!

Sunday (rest day): 30 minutes of tennis rally

My running hasn’t been the best time especially Saturday with that 30 min.-3 mile run due to stomach pains which hampered my concentration and running.  That will be all I can say before it’s TMI.lol  Also I’m going to Bangkok, Thailand this Wednesday! Staying there for 5 days, so it’ll be total rest week for me, although I’ll probably be burning some calories walking.  I’m so excited :)

P.S. As for my diet, I’m not very particular on calorie counting and such.  I just try to get as much fruit and veggies every meal.

What are some good protein shake recipes?

I heard someone mention the Whey protein powder but…idk
I just want a protein shake to drink in the mornings or after I work out…

Reason #11 to Lift Weights (Adam Campbell)

        11. You’ll Handle Stress Better
Break a sweat in the weight room and you’ll stay cool under pressure. Texas A&M University scientists determined that the fittest people exhibited lower levels of stress hormones than those who were the least fit. And in another study, researchers at the Medical College of Georgia found that the blood pressure levels of people with the most muscle returned to normal the fastest after a stressful situation, compared to those who had the least muscle.

Challenge Day 2: Early Morning (Pre-Gym) Video Update

Reason #1 to Lift Weights (Adam Campbell)

        1. You’ll Lose 40 Percent More Fat
This might be the biggest secret in fat loss. While you’ve no doubt been told that aerobic exercise is the key to losing belly flab, weight training is actually far more valuable. Case in point: Penn State University researchers put overweight people on a reduced-calorie diet, and divided them into three groups—one that didn’t exercise, another that performed aerobic exercise 3 days a week, and a third that did both aerobic exercise and weight training 3 days a week.

The results: Each of the groups lost nearly the same amount of weight—about 21 pounds. But the lifters shed about 6 more pounds of fat than did those who didn’t pump iron. Why? Because their weight loss was almost pure fat, while the other two groups lost just 15 pounds of lard, along with several pounds of muscle. Do the math and you’ll see that weights led to 40 percent greater fat loss.

This isn’t a one-time finding. Research on non-lifting dieters shows that, on average, 75 percent of their weight loss is from fat, and 25 percent is muscle. That 25 percent may reduce your scale weight, but it doesn’t do a lot for your reflection in the mirror. It also makes you more likely to gain back the flab you lost. However, if you weight train as you diet, you’ll protect your hard-earned muscle and burn more fat instead.

Think of it in terms of liposuction: The whole point is to simply remove unattractive flab, right? That’s exactly what you should demand from your workout.

Reason #8 to Lift Weights (Adam Campbell)

        8. You’ll Derail Diabetes
Call it muscle medication. In a 4-month study, Austrian scientists found that people with type 2 diabetes who started strength training significantly lowered their blood sugar levels, improving their condition. Just as important, lifting may be one of the best ways to prevent diabetes in the first place. That’s because it not only fights the fat that puts you at an increased risk for the disease, it also improves your sensitivity to the hormone insulin. The end result: Your body has an easier time moving sugar from your blood stream into your muscles cells. This helps keep your blood sugar under control, reducing the likelihood you’ll develop diabetes.

Just got back from the gym

And that was the most pitiful workout Ive ever had. I have no energy whatsoever, I think its because I only ate cereal today. I need fuel. I’ll go back to the gym later tonight and see how it goes.
