Bad breath and bleeding gums are not sexy. But periodontitis, an inflammation or infection of the gums, may hamper your sex life in another way: It may be a cause of erectile dysfunction, a new study suggests. So brush floss and gurgle.
followers, i need your help! i managed to convince my friends to go out for sushi instead of much more fattening fish & chips. however, i still need advice! what are my best options for a filling but relatively low cal dinner at a japanese restaurant?!?
We did LOTS of swimming, according to my MyFitnessPal about 700!!!!! WOW in 2 hours. There was so much waves and it was just fun! I even wore a bathing suit!!! with a dress cover for part :P
First, we changed and I took a picture of myself :)
Then we got down to the beach, sooo nice out too,
Then we swam and Shaun and I had my sister take a pic of us :)
THEN I had my sister take a picture of me in JUST my bathing suit (JUST FOR YOU GUYS)
Then finally my sister and I went in the Hurricane Simulator :)
Overall, they day was amazing and Shaun and I plan on going back OFTEN this summer, now that he knows he likes swimming and the beach :)
OMG I’ve lost SO much weight since then! wowza!
Snack: clover leaf dill and lemon tuna.
Ok. This was disgusting. Note to self: don’t try all flavors.
I ate it all because protein is protein. I needed protein in my diet.
I had a terrible night last night with pain and I wasn’t able to sleep much. I got out of bed at 5:30am and walked around a bit and my boyfriend got up and made me a new hot water bottle and after a little while I went back to bed where I slept for 3 hours.
I got up and showered but didn’t eat breakfast, instead we just went straight to the x-ray place where I had an x-ray done of my abdomen. The lady told me that not everything shows up on an x-ray and that I shouldn’t be suprised if I get told to have an ultrasound. I have piled up on All-Bran cereal to try and fill my body with fibre incase this is gas related but I have never felt pain like this in relation to gas, I have however felt this pain when I used to have gallbladder attacks. I have been told by the doctor that even though I have had my gallbladder removed, it is possible for me to still pass gallstones.
I shall be going back to the doctor towards the end of the week and hopefully there will be a solution to my problem. At this point some sleeping pills would be nice.

This happens allllll the time, honey. Use a new or sharp razor every time (apparently, if you run a disposable razor the opposite way against your jeans it’ll ‘sharpen it’), shave at the end of the shower when the hair is softer and your pores are open, and lather up with a sensitive skin shaving lotion. Aside from that, you can either wax, use an electric razor, I think there’s sensitive Nair, and someone even mentioned a sugar scrub thingy. Above all, choose what you want to do. It’s your body.
Started my day with 20 crunches and 10 push ups. After that, I ate some gingerbread and a peach. And now I feel like I can handle the whole world!
What’s My Theme song of the day? Well, today in Zumba tonight, I will be using a Michael Jackson song for the warmup and cool down in honor of his life, should be fun! I will also be doing a routine to the song “Dance and Shout” Shaggy’s version. It should be lots of fun! What’s your theme song of the day?
Trained cancer killer
Medicine harnesses the might of the immune system defeat prostate cancer
Doctors have been trying to enlist the immune system of patients in the battle against cancer since at least 1893, when physician William Coley of New York Cancer Hospital injected bacteria into a patient’s body in the hopes that it would spur the immune system to fight the bacterial infection and cancer cells alike. The tumor disappeared, and the patient lived for another 26 years. But immunotherapy was eclipsed by radiation and chemotherapy, which showed more-immediate and reproducible results. Last April, Provenge became the first FDA-approved treatment that retrains the immune system to target cancer. Scientists have tested it only on subjects already near death, in this case men whose tumors had spread beyond their prostate. Those who took Provenge lived an average of 4.1 months longer than those who didn’t. Now researchers at Dendreon, which manufactures Provenge, are looking into whether it can stop the cancer from spreading beyond the prostate. If that can be done, says Paul Schellhammer, a urologist at Eastern Virginia Medical School who studied Provenge in clinical trials, the patient will usually survive.

Joining a Gym
before you start any strenuous exercise make sure with your doctor that this is OK for you. You don’t want to hurt yourself or make yourself sick. For some people a brisk walk every day is enough.
If you have a certain exercise you love then by all means indulge this. If you love to dance, find a gym that offers dance classes! If you love to swim, make sure you join a gym with a pool. Exercise if by no means all about lifting weights. If you are looking for a gym with a pool be prepared to pay a bit more for a membership than a gym with out.
You also want to make sure you feel safe at this gym. It should give you an atmosphere where you don’t feel embarrassed or like you are gonna catch something funky from the locker rooms.
Finally you want to look at cost. Some places are very expensive while others are fairly cheap. The price can and will dictate the clients and what will be available for you to use. Some gyms offer discounts to certain groups of people, students with IDs, certain corporates, disabilities, etc. Always check to see if you can get a discount. This can knock a good 100$ off your year in some cases.
When you go to join a gym keep all these things in mind and don’t be afraid to shop around. A lot of gyms will give you a free trial day to see if you like it or not. Good luck everyone!

Fun Fitness Fact of the Day: Your body is built in the kitchen! Always remember that and make healthy choices. Here is a great article on the subject: http://natemiyaki.com/2011/03/24/the-8020-rule-of-fitness-nutrition/

I read this amazing article about the impact of nutritional habits on our body… a great Read.
here goes:
The 80/20 Rule of Fitness Nutrition
Posted onMarch 24, 2011bynatemiyaki
If you retain only one piece of information from my articles, I hope that it is this: your nutritional habits will have a far greater impact on your body composition and physique goals than any other fitness component.
Step back from the fitness industry, pop culture, or scientific debates and think about it logically for just a second. Lets say you perform 4 weight training sessions and 5 cardio sessions a week – a typical fitness protocol. That’s a total of 9 training sessions per week. That’s 9 chances to make a difference and change your body in a positive way.
Now, lets also say you eat 3 square meals a day. Better yet, as a fitness athlete you know about the advantages of meal spacing and eat 5 meals/snacks a day. That’s 21-35 opportunities a week to directly impact your muscle building and fat burning goals.
A common question in the fitness industry is, “what percentage of my physique enhancement goals will be a result of exercise, and what percentage will be a result of my diet?” Common answers are something like, “Well, they are both important. You can’t really assign percentages” or “training is 100%, diet is 100%”. But that doesn’t really give novice trainees an accurate depiction of the bigger picture. And in the big picture, diet will always have a bigger impact than training.
In our above example of 9 training sessions and 35 meals/snacks geared toward body composition improvement a week, that works out to about 20% accounted to physical activity and 80% accounted to diet. I’d say that’s a pretty accurate assessment of the physique enhancement process. If you want to look good, 80% of your results are determined by the food that you eat.
This is an article about fitness nutrition, not statistics, so lets leave the numbers behind and look at some real world examples. If you look around your gym, you’ve probably noticed some regulars that have been there day-in and day-out for months, or even years, but look exactly the same. All that time and effort with no results to show for it. What’s up with that? The answer is diet, or lack thereof.
Another good example is professional NFL offensive lineman. These guys are pro athletes that perform vigorous training protocols on a daily basis. They are big, strong, and could certainly throw me a severe beating. But most of them have a little jiggle with their wiggle, a large percentage of them are obese. How can this be? Again, the answer is poor, or no nutritional strategy.
Conversely, when you hear tales of dramatic weight loss or great body transformations, diet/nutrition is always at the forefront of the discussion. “How did you lose the weight?” friends will ask. “Oh, I went on such and such diet” or “I read this or that nutrition book.” People can make drastic changes in their physique with diet alone. Remember Jared from Subway (yeah I know he’s getting paid to say that, but you get my point).
The moral of the story is you can’t change your body just by exercising. As a matter of fact, I’d say you are wasting your time in the gym until you clean up your diet and implement a sound fitness nutrition protocol. It would be nice if we could work off last night’s junk meal with some extra cardio. Despite what some trainers would have you believe, it just doesn’t work that way.
When you are about to cheat and eat that slice of pizza or bowl of ice cream, remember the Fitness Nutrition 80:20 rule. What goes into your mouth accounts for 80% of how you look.

Couldn’t do Insanity again today. The friend who supplies my Insanity fix is off celebrating her mom’s birthday, which is okay, totally and completely okay. I’m not addicted or anything. You’d be a half-brained chipmunk with limited mental faculties to think that.
Fine. I’m kind of addicted.
It’s the sweating. I’m convinced it’s the sweating; you watch the Insanity stuff and you see all these people behind Shaun effing T just drenched and you suddenly become more envious of that than their rock hard bodies. Sweat suddenly becomes your meter for gauging how well you’re working out. If I don’t sweat enough, I honestly feel like I didn’t do my best, which motivates me to move harder the next day.
Anyway, since I couldn’t work out at all, I’ve been having a ‘blah’ kind of day. I know I could go for a run or something, but my neighborhood’s filled with other runners, plus what I like to call “Active Yard Cleaner Uppers.” These are people who constantly work on their front lawns to make sure it meets specifications only they care about. It’s not just about the yard, though. Oh no. It’s also about watching other neighbors on the sly, from the corner of their eye.
I just rhymed.
So, yeah. I feel awkward running in my neighborhood. I’m planning on doing some yoga later to make up for it.

It has come to my attention that what seems to be “common knowledge” isn’t so common after all. Especially when it comes to health and nutrition. With all the media garble telling us what to do, what to eat, and what to purchase, it’s hard to desipher the which eating habits are good or bad. Should I not eat carbs? Should I exercise every single day? Will this Bun Burner 300 really make my ass look good in only a month? Most of it is the media trying to convince you, the consumer, to do this and that so they can make money. That’s the hard truth. Sure, that granola bar sure looks tasty and nutritious, and the box even says “Low Fat”! But take a look at the nutrition label, and the facts are all there. Most everything is shoved with hidden gobs of sugar, chemicals, and all sorts terribly horrid things for your body. But didn’t that label say “Low Fat”? Doesnt that mean it’s good for me? You be the judge.
I didn’t always see things this way. I use to be “normal”. I use to never look at a food label except to look at the calories. I use to think I was eating healthy for many years, when really, I wasn’t looking at the big picture. After all this so-thought eating healthy, yet still feeling like it wasn’t working, I asked myself “what is it I’m doing wrong”. And after many tiny discoveries over the months, it hit me- I didn’t know what exactly I was putting into my mouth, and ultimately, my body. After researching, reading, and marching through grocery stores staring at food labels, I felt empowered knowing what I was eating, and what exactly my body needs to carry me on.
That is why I am here, now, to set the facts straight. After all I’ve learned, I feel everybody should know what they need to find happiness within themselves. Everybody deserves to be happy with themselves; every day, morning, noon, and night. Your body is your shell, your home, the one thing that will stick with you- but you have to love it and take care of it for it to do the same.

My problems with my shoes are gone - I just had to figure out how to wear them (if that makes any sense).
Also, AG, that’s awesome! I’ve noticed most of my cravings are gone as well. Especially from not having soda for awhile.
BIG UPDATE: I went to a Charity event yesterday at Wing Chun place near me. Wing Chun is that kung fu I was telling you that my friend just got into. I signed up, completely forgetting that I was starting a new job this week. BUT! It does seem to be a great workout and it’s useful because it’s all self-defense techniques and real-life situations and stuff like that. Plus the instructors are really cute. I couldn’t pass up the chance.
So, I’m starting work today and I’m going to see my schedule and I’m going to try and balance Wing Chun and the job. I probably will have to call the cute instructors and tell them I can’t make it three times a week.
We’ll see. I’ll keep you updated!
Oh! And I started running the lake. I’m not to a 3 minute run, but so far I think I’m doing pretty well and I feel a lot more worked out when I finish.
It’s raining a lot here, so my real problem is trying to stay dry. hahaha

So, I’ve been a vegan for about a month now and a vegetarian for almost a year (3 months shy). Although, I feel like I cheated because I was a pescatarian in the beginning…I’m not going to be too hard on myself because I am what I am now and the past is the past.
The best part about being vegan is that not only do I feel good, I look good. I have lost 10 lbs and it’s so much easier to pass everything through. I know that’s a bit personal but, hey, it’s natural!
So, I just wanted to update you guys on what’s going on because I haven’t been on for awhile.
Now, I’m gonna enjoy my vacation :) My sister, best friend, and I are in Maine with my family and it’s the most beautiful place in the world.
i slept in rather than practice yoga this morning, but that’s okay because i did 4 days this week and that was my goal!
3.5 miles this afternoon, then maybe a teeny bit of ab/upper body work if i’m feeling up to it.
the high is near 100 so i’ll probably get outside early and read/swim/lament buying my new bathing suit bottoms in the wrong size then losing the receipt
i just found out that my mom is making nothing that i can eat for dinner so i have to figure out what the hell to make for myself
i also really want to watch love and other drugs. but i’ve heard that it’s not appropriate to watch with parents…but i don’t want to offend them by hoarding it alone in my room. then again, my parents watched misfits with me and just looked past the sexy parts and “it’s that british show about superhero teenagers” to them.

it makes me feel a bit excited when I see the instruments, machines and techniques that the doctors use to run tests to see what poisons were in a patient’s body, etc… just because that biotechnology tech program basically drilled those type of things into my head for 2 years, and now I feel accomplished that I can recognize what their doing, how their doing it, why and what it will do to help them. :)
*feeling nerdy.
little trick I use and it works GREAT for summer and really hydrating and healthy for your skin.
go to the store: target walmart, walgreens etc. find the baby section find “baby oil GEL” MAKE SURE YOU GET THE GEL and not just the oil.
After showering stand in the shower naked with the water still dripping off your body (wipe your FACE with the towel only- this will prevent your face from getting oily)
squirt some of the gel in your hand and rub it in. lightly “comb” (fingers spread dragging lightly your hands over you) your body (legs arms stomach back butt) you may need a couple squirts of the gel to cover your whole body. Be careful not to over do the gel on your body. once you have a thin layer rub it in everywhere MAKE SURE YOUR BODY IS STILL WET FROM THE SHOWER THIS WILL HELP IT TO NOT BE SO THICK. rub in then dry off with your towel again this will make sure the oil isn’t so heavy on your skin. your done! oiled and sexy and shimmery. I do this twice a week just for good skin conditioning this is great if you are planning on wearing cute summer shorts or dresses and want your legs lookin’ FINE!
I can’t believe I did it! I’ve crossed another difficult milestone and now I’m 5 lbs away from my high school weight (which was 5 years ago).
Hard work + dedication = success and results. (Taken with picplz.)
The best way to start it off is by running. No more “I’ll go tomorrow” no more “later” it’s all about now!
I see this as a representation on how I will live my next year of life. :)
Cheers to a healthy lifestyle!

Vitamin D3, which is found most abundantly in sunlight, boosts your brain’s levels of Seratonin and Dopamine, chemicals that are proven to boost your mood. Scientists say that spending 30 minutes in the sun early in the day significantly reduces mood swings and reverses negative emotions. Sun therapy is the choice of many holistic psychologists when treating patients with depression.

what a long day i have ahead of me today. at least i started my day off right and went running. i didn’t really have to BRING myself to do it, the rain just makes me sleepy. my run was very nice. it wasn’t really a work out, more like leisure running. i’m surprised it only took me 15 minutes to do my entire route, which means i should probably step it up and do it twice, or find somewhere else to run. i want to be in better shape and in order to do so, i need to start pushing myself a little harder.
another thing. I don’t understand why people sign up for gym memberships..? unless you live in the city where you’re fearing that you’re going to be kidnapped if you go outside, i don’t understand why you wouldn’t just run down your street (with your dog) or at a park or something. Night time is a different story. 24 hour gyms are convenient i guess if you work late and need something to do before you go to bed. i don’t fucking know.

Antibiotic resistance has finally made its way onto the Senate radar again and with good reason considering that we’ve seen antibiotic resistance across British farms and this year in US hospitals and nursing homes to name just a few. It’s a problem that’s only getting worse with the expanded overuse of antibiotics. It’s this practice that a Senate bill is looking to limit with the re-introduction of The Preservation of Antibiotics for Medical Treatment Act (PAMTA).
According to Diane Feinstein (D-CA), the primary sponsor for PAMTA, reported on Civil Eats. “[t]he effectiveness of antibiotics for humans is jeopardized when they are used to fatten healthy pigs or speed the growth of chickens. This is a basic food safety initiative that would phase out the misuse of these drugs so that food in supermarkets across America will not spread strains of drug-resistant bacteria.”
According to the FDA, 80 percent of the antibiotics produced in this country are used in animal agriculture. This amount is estimated to be more than four times the amount of drugs used to treat human illness.
The bill, which Senators Susan Collins (R-ME), Jack Reed (D-RI), and Barbara Boxer (D-CA), all have worked together on was outlined by Civil Eats and does the following:
Phases out the non-therapeutic use of medically important antibiotics in livestock;
Requires new applications for animal antibiotics to demonstrate the use of the antibiotic will not endanger public health;
Does not restrict the use of antibiotics to treat sick livestock or to treat pets.
This needs to happen…

The back issues resurface when I lay down, meaning (since I toss and turn a lot during the night) every time I move I wake up.
Also, the problem where my thumb falls asleep and then hurts like a motherfucker is still happening.
Basically, every hour or so that I try to sleep, I get jerked awake by a charlie horse in my hand and a stabbing pain in my right hip.
I AM TWENTY-TWO THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO ME
inspiration to get healthy though. I bet this would be better if I was in better shape. The back thing at least. Not sure about the thumb.
I can only hope to look this good at 74!!! Amazingly Beautiful:)

Seven things I’m changing as of tomorrow:
1. No more, and no less than 1200 calories per day
2. At least two different kinds of fruits or veggies every day
3. 2 Liters of water every day
4. 30DS in the morning, my personalized routine in the evening

Alright body, let’s do this thing. I’ve spent too long putting this off and half-assing it. I need to get back to the motivation and dedication I had before finals took over my life. I need to get back to losing at least one pound a week. I NEED TO BE 130 BY MY TRIP. This is no joke — I am serious about it and I need to stop letting laziness get in the way of health and fitness.

haha it was definitely never planned. i’ve had a personal tumblr for a while now, but i was never that into it. i guess i created this health tumblr simply because i wanted to share some of the things that i’ve learned over the years through my reading + researching random stuff.
i figure that the majority of people want to change their appearance (lose weight, gain weight, gain muscle, etc.), but many don’t try to understand the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of things. regardless, i love it when people work to become healthier and just wanted to provide helpful tips.
thanks so much! :)
For the past couple of days, I’ve been a lot better about taking care of my skin in the morning and especially at night. Usually at the end of the day, I’m tired and lazy and just won’t wash my face until the morning. Well I’ve been breaking out bad lately so I decided that NEEDED to change. I went to the store this morning and bought a new facial cleanser and a clay face mask. I used them both tonight, before I go to bed….But that’s kinda where it starts. I start taking better care of my skin but then I stay up until 4am.
Or I’ll start exercising but then eat nothing but brownies all day. I feel like no matter how I try to tip the personal maintenance scale in one direction, I end up tilting it back in the opposite direction at the same time.
Things I need to get more serious about (at the same time, preferably):
Take better care of my skin. Wash it when I wake up and before I go to bed. Exfoliate and facial mask a couple times a week.
Diet. Not a diet, but improve mine. Eat more veggies and fruits. Less processed crap. I’ve mentioned this before but maybe if I keep repeating it, I’ll finally follow through.
Drink more water. Every day. Instead of spending $4 on a sugary drink at Starbucks every morning, how about just having a glass of water? It’ll clear up my skin, too….
Exercise. Work out. Get active. Run, walk, crunches and squats, hula hoop. Do something, goddamnit.
Get more sleep. Better sleep hours. Don’t stay up until the sunrise….Like now. preferable bed time between 12-2, ideal bedtime between 11-1. And I hate staying up this late then sleeping until the afternoon. I feel like my day has been wasted.
Come on, Suzy, you can do it.

I just finished some nice breakfast. Blueberry pancakes. (if you can’t tell I’ve been craving pancakes lately.)
The recipe is:
1/2 cup uncooked oats
1/2 blueberries
1 tablespoon honey
1 egg
Just blend it together and let it thicken. Sometimes I put it in the fridge overnight and make it in the morning. It is super delicous! I won’t lie though, it isn’t totally a pancake you can say, but made similar. Tastes great though, believe. Expecially if you love blueberries!
As for the workout today, I may just go for a jog. Because today is my off day and after kicking ass all week, I believe bodies deserve rest.
BUT that doesn’t mean I need to sit on my butt all day! After work I am definitely enjoying this beautiful day.

She’s a marathon runner (on and off mostly since she’s in school now) and usually runs San Diego’s Rock n Roll Marathon, but couldn’t this year due to school. And we were saying how we should get my dad to run it next year since he’s lost like 15 pounds now since he stopped drinking. Then I said I would run it, the half marathon at least. And at first I was just kinda joking around and saying it, but now I think I should really stick with this goal. I want to start training and maybe I could actually run/walk the half marathon next year. I’m gonna have to really train though because right now I can only run/walk like half a mile to a mile, and a half marathon is 13.1 miles. But I have until next summer. So I’m going to try my hardest to get there! If any of you are training for races or marathons, tips would be very much appreciated on how to get started training and where I should be running wise at certain points in the year I have to train.
Help?
Today was the first day of my new, and hopefully permanent, lifestyle change. Well, almost. I’ve already been working on eating healthier, but I haven’t been as committed to exercise. So today, I woke up at 7:30 and got my fitness on!
Goal: Healthy, Happy, Beautiful. I want to be in my best physical condition; I want to have a flat sexy tummy before Micah comes home in approx. 3 months.

Being on a low-carb diet means that your protein sources have to be as low in carbs as anything else you eat. If you eat meat, for example, you can only eat it breaded and fried if the breading is low-carb. The same goes for meatloaf, which typically has many more carbs than you would suspect. Not all meat is carb-free by itself, either. Read on to learn how to choose the protein sources you need without the carbs you don’t.
-If you eat meat, most cuts of beef, pork, poultry and lamb have less than a carb per serving. How you cook or prepare them can change that, however. Avoid any kind of liver or any internal organs, like chicken giblets. With the exception of ricotta, cottage cheese and Gjetost (or Brunost, as this brown Norwegian cheese is also called), cheese is also a good low-carb source of protein.
-If you eat fish and seafood, fish has no carbs. Seafood can, however. Oysters, mussles, clams and abalone can have the most. Still, the carb content for a modest serving is low. For example, 3 oz. of cooked Pacific oysters has 8.4 carbs.
-If you do not eat meat, fish, or seafood, try seitan. It has the highest amount of protein of the vegetarian meat substitutes. Plus, it is a good source of iron and has little fat and no cholesterol. You can make seitan at home; but you can also buy it at a natural foods store. Use it as you would beef. You can buy a chicken-flavored seitan, as well. Another good source of protein is tofu.
-Drink soy milk for extra protein. Choose one without sweetening so that you can have the benefits of soy protein without unnecessary carbs.
-Don’t forget to eat your vegetables. They have protein, too. Beans and peas have as much protein as the same amount of tofu. Broccoli and asparagus have half as much protein as the same amount of tofu.
While the Congressional Budget Office has said that only 7 percent of employees currently covered by employer-sponsored insurance (ESI) will have to switch to subsidized-exchange policies in 2014, a McKinsey survey which included more than 1,300 employers found that about 30 percent of employers will definitely or probably stop offering ESI after 2014, when Affordable Care Act will come into effect. The survey also found that at least 30 percent of employers would gain financially if they did not offer ESI benefits, and more than 85 percent of employees would remain at their jobs even if their employer stopped offering ESI, although about 60 percent would expect increased compensation.

I slept in today, which is unusual for me. I feel really good - partially from working out hard yesterday! I’m going to the gym today, but I’m not sure what I should do… any ideas? I already ran some laps today. :)
How’s everyone’s day going so far? What is everyone doing to be fit today?
I’m planning on starting a Progress Blog where I’ll post pictures and some reviews on my work outs and things I eat and some ongoing measurements and whatnot now that I’m almost ready to start my P90X training.
It’s going to be password protected so my“”half-naked”“ self won’t be at too much of a public-display.
[I will also be posting a link in a few minutes to my new fitness blog]
But it is a FITSPO-type blog, so if you’re interested in getting healthy or toned[like I’m gunning for] or just wanna show me some support [which I will GREATLY appreciate] just send me a message in my ask box and I’ll inbox you the password :)
I start p90x as soon as I can get a pair of resistance bands, just so you know. Which could be as soon as this weekend.
Here’s a link to my ask:http://andtheworldwaswell.tumblr.com/ask
and if you know of anyone that is a fitness blog or that likes following fitness blogs let them know about me, or let me know about them.
Thanks you guys, I love you all :)

Maybe the publishing world heard us last week when we toldja our girl Jennifer Hudson was having a tough time getting a book deal about her weightloss. Well, things have changed! J-Hud signed a deal to write a book on her dramatic weight loss. The ‘Dreamgirls’ star will be opening up about how her unhealthy eating habits which she says began at an early age. The Weight Watchers spokesperson famously shed 80lbs in less than two years, going from a size 16 to a size 6.
She’ll share her weight issues, and some of her own best tips for losing and maintaining weight loss, fitting in exercise and keeping the pounds off. In the mean time, someone needs to share with her that with the weight shed those breast aren’t the same beast they use to be and she can hide the push bras and stretch marks, right now!

Lunch: baked chicken, salad leaves, chorizo, onion and nandos sauce. Yum, nandos sauce is so good on salad if you like spicy food :)
I’m inclined to disagree with you knowing how to abandon a food, considering meat is different than cheese - meat doesn’t have casein. Casein is the milk protein that you’re addicted to.
We do deal with a lot, as vegans, and I commiserate with what you’re saying about getting shit from friends - I find that people being unsupportive of my diet, even though it’s no concern of theirs and doesn’t hinder their lives in any way, is the only hard part of this lifestyle for me. You know what, though? I don’t have any friends who say it’s stupid, because no ‘friend’ wouldn’t take the time to try and understand a life and moral change like veganism that literally hurts no one. If your ‘friends’ are being called stupid and aren’t willing to support you in something you care about, it’s really high time to get some new friends.
As for keeping up with everything, I’m not sure what to tell you - yes, there’s a lot of ingredient-reading in veganism. Yeah, there’s a lot of explaining. Worse, there’s a lot of substituting, especially when you find out our favorite alcoholic drink or shampoo, etcetera, isn’t vegan. But you do it because living cruelty-free means more to you than convenience and hopefully someday (as it’s been starting for years and years) veganism will be as convenient as an omnivore diet. We already have so many amazing products that make our lives easier (one being Daiya, obviously) and the list goes on from there. This day and age, it’s not hard to be a vegan - it’s just mind over matter.
Vegansoapbox has a list of how to get cheese out of your diet - I’ll throw it in for good measure: http://www.vegansoapbox.com/i-cant-live-without-cheese/
Fitness Fun Fact:
I love double and sometimes quadruple dating. My boyfriend and I have so much fun hanging out and connecting with our friends. This more than likely ends up with us all meeting up to go out to dinner to catch up or heading to the movies together and ordering the popcorn. Last night, we changed that. We met up with my best friend and her fiancée at the park last night! We laced up our shoes and went for a 2 mile jog/run. Afterwards, we raced each other to see who was faster in the park parking lot(of course my boyfriend and I won!). It was a different type of meet up but we all had a blast and the best part: we burned calories and drank water instead of consuming calories with food and alcohol. This is just one of the things that we have done together fitness wise. As a matter of fact, my boyfriend and I are actually in a competition with my best friend and her fiancée! Two weeks ago, we took before pics together. The couple who has made the most improvement at the end of July will receive a prize from the other couple! Cool, huh? It’s funny because the men are so competitive that in return they have been pushing my best friend and I to work that much harder. So fitness fact of the day is, include your friends in your fitness goals. You will have fun and all get healthier at the same time. Now that’s what I call a win win situation!
““The main thing diagnoses are good for is sussing out what your shrink thinks of you — Bipolar Affective Disorder means they like you, Unipolar means you’re boring, Borderline Personality Disorder means they hate you and Schizophrenic means you scare the shit out of them because they can’t keep up with your thinking.””

Today, I did cardio (spin class) with a little bit of abs afterwards. My favorite ab move today was the plank. Man, no matter how much I do this move, my abs get their butt kicked! I usually hold the move for 30 seconds, take a break and repeat. Love it!
What is my theme song of the day? Well, since I went to spin class and was rollin’ with the punches, I decided that “How we roll” would be the best song for today! Busta Rhymes killed it on this! I love it! This song makes me push and then push harder! What is your theme song song of the day?
As soon as I posted about my first cleanse, my health-conscious friend Amy (loveandplaygrounds) contacted me. Here’s what she had to say:
“Hey I just saw your post about your cleanse and I wanted to tell you that those quick cleanse tablets are an absolute crock. There’s no one thing that is going to flush your system the way you want it. Cleanses are haaard and it requires an extreme diet change and dedication. At least a good one that is going to make you feel any kind of difference is. I just wanted to warn you, but chances are you’re doing more harm than good with those tablets. But then again, I never really trust any products like that.”
I asked her if she has a cleanse she would recommend and how it went:
“I did [a cleanse] the more expensive/painful but effective way and had an actual nutritionist, which you don’t need to pay for if you know what you’re doing. I had a handful of supplements I took everyday and essentially just ate all organic fruit and veggies (but not all) for an entire month. There is a withdrawal for the first day or two because we get so dependent on the chemicals we put in our bodies, but you feel soooo good afterwards. The food was really strict, had to exercise, and even had a regimen for what I could put on my skin (which makes sense because your skin is your largest organ and its only job is to absorb and expel crap). I definitely recommend it, but I don’t know how to tell you to go about doing it at home.”
What supplements was she taking?
“Design for health detox support packets. They’re supposed to supplement all the other nutrients you’re missing from fruits and veggies. I’m sure there’s a book you can find that’ll help. I just recommend all organic. Detox diets have gotten so trendy that people forget it’s about what you’re taking out of your body, not just putting in it.”
That’s a really good point. She said most natural food stores should have something close (if not the same) to the supplements she took.
I guess this isn’t a diet we can pull off in the holidays! Still, I’m going to incorporate more organic raw fruits and veggies. I’ll finish off this cleanse, let you know of any changes, but I REALLY appreciate this, Amy (loveandplaygrounds). You’re a huge help!
Sirena
This morning I weigh in at 163.5!
I am rid of the 6 lb. gain from last week! I’m sure that alot of that gain was bloat from the mass amount of alchohol I consumed every day last weekend, but still, it feels good to have the number back to what it was before.
SO READY to actually lose this coming week rather than just maintaning like I did through ALL of May. Bummed I wasted all that time, but I’m just gonna’ push myself even harder now!
I feel pudgy and icky! I will definitely do two hours today…
Congratulations on wanting to make a change. It takes work and you might need to reach out for help from your parents, friends, or even the school nurse. Bulimia is a disease so it takes a lot of de-ritualizing and fixing your eating schedule. If you want to go un-anon and I can answer in your ask, we can talk in more detail.
As for stress, we all have to deal with it. Sometimes you just have to pour your stress into something new. A hobby, art, jogging, anything. Lay on your back with your headphones in or pick up a new book. Really immerse yourself into a healthy lifestyle.
